My dog and cat get along to a point. My old dog and cat that I used to have would play fight each other all the time and then help clean each others ears and be extra cute. My current dog and cat go through phases of what I'ld call the dog telling on the cat for being bad. To elaborate, my cat with go to the dogs dish and stand in it to make a metal pop noise when he stands in the empty dish. When my cat does this my dog usually runs to me and looks at me then looks at the cat as if to say, "daddy, hes being naughty". Its hilarious that they behave like a couple of real children in that aspect cause I can read their body language pretty well. They fight a little bit when either of them get out of line, but for the most part my big old dog is afraid of the cat, cause the cat knows what buttons to push on my dog. It is nice to see my dog assert himself every now and then by flat out hitting the cat on the head with his paw. I hope you all do realise that dogs and cats aren't people and a little dominance is perfectly fine as long as no one is getting hurt or being too aggressive. I used to work at a dog daycare and everything that my pets do is within the acceptable limits in socialization between animals.

Marley is my dog he gets along with some cats. not - Marley so other people can see how he looks like, very cute
We only have two dogs, but when I take my dog Marley to visit friends, he is friendly with the cats over there, it is cute, plus he tries to bring home their toys, two at a time and we are talking about a small dog. When we go for walks he seems to like some cats and others he really seems to want 5 minutes alone with them. Crazy dog! Anyways have a great day with your pets.

My son did live at my house with his wife and five cats. The cats wanted to come upstairs all the time and sleep with our 2 dogs, a boxer and a bouvier. The boxer was the oldest dog and would laso play with the cats ,chasing them all over the house, would NEVER hurt them. When they wanted to sleep they would meow at the Bouvier year old puppy, the puppy would lay down, the cats would lay down on him.. My sons wife wasn't to happy with the situation. The cats wanted my dogs attension more than a humans attension..That was the good, the bad, the ugly was when they all where sleeping 2 dogs and 5 cats snooring... REMEMBER, ALWAYS LUV/CARE FOR YOUR DOG/CAT/PET, THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U.

very good share. one of my old cats would sleep on my back and suckle at the collar of my tshirt. when the world is falling down around me, all i need to do is have a group hug with my furry children and things seem to calm down and fall into place.

sounds like they got a good owner for them to be so close as well. they will get their cues from us most of the time whether or not its okay for them to be getting away with the things they are doing, and we all know that peaceful co-existence is what we pet owners truly desire...

Dolly jumping on Odos Back...looks like he doesn't - Dolly jumping on Odos Back...looks like he doesn't like it!
No,unfourtunatly they don't get along at all. We had two Cats 4 years ago, one of them sadly got killed by my dogs...she was only a few Month old. I think it depends on the character of the dog and also of the one from the cat, because if the Cat is aggresive, the Dog will respond to that.

yeah, individual personalities will determine alternate outcomes. sucks that they killed one.... i like to think it was an accident. sometimes they think they are smaller than they are, kinda like the great danes that try and sit on ur lap....

some of it may be that "inner wolf" but they are also like us in that they are products of their environment as well. did u know that sometimes in a pack the dominant dog will step down to let others lead for a little while, only to later resume their dominant status? it depends on the situation. keep an eye on them crazy ones anyway since u can't trust them and they know u can't.

yeah, i'll agree on if my dog sees another cat on his turf outside. he don't like it and will let them know that they don't belong there. he does it with squirels as well, but indoors he knows that our cat is his brother.

My dog and cat get along well too. Yes its really funny looking at them when they are playing together. Usually it is the cat that starts the game. He play the tail of my dog and bites it, when my dog ignored him he embrace her in her face and bites and bites and bites her face and this starts to annoy my dog and then she bites back and there they goes playing and running. When its time to eat my dog shares her food to my cat, she never get mad when the cat join her in her plate when she was eating they are really really cute.
