hi mylotters! i am a meat lover. although i eat vegetables but i could stand a meal without meat. most of the time our meals at home consist of pork. i love pork and i don't have any problems with it. however, if given the choice i would beef. beef meat has a distinct taste and although some people i know are disgusted with the taste, i really love it. you could serve me beef all day and i wouldn't mind. granting of course that it's a different recipe. so what about you? would you rather choose pork? or beef?

hi homeshoppers! i'm from the philippines too. although i agree with you that pork is common here but i would say that beef as common to it as pork. you can easily buy beef at the market. well, there are definiely more recipes here to cook with pork and it's cheaper though. i guess those that you have mentioned are the advantages to choosing pork. however, although beef takes time to prepare and more expensive, would you agree that it is tastier than pork? or you'd still go with pork on the aspect of taste?

Yeh! Have you tried pork and meat dish cooked together? It is yummy and keeps the body perfect, cause pork is cold and beef is heat to the body. When consumed together body temparature will be balanced.

hey samson! seems like you're the only one interested with this topic. i wonder where the others went. well i don't think i have tasted a menu with both pork and beef on. oh i'm sorry, i think i have! they call it hotpot here. the food is inside a "hot pot" then it has all sorts of meat like chicken, liver, beef, pork, and rice and other vegetables. it's really great to eat.

Hi tomjoad, in the summer I can mainly live without meat at all, the excuse being it's too hot to cook it but in the winter it plays a bigger part. Now I love beef but finding it not only very expensive now but also the beef here is really only good for slow cooked casseroles and it's almost impossible to find a decent steak to buy. So last winter pork was used more, mainly due to the lower cost. I like to use belly pork in casseroles with sage and onions and apples, served with green beans.Pork souvlaki, that is skewered pork, is practically a national dish here.

Dear tomjoad, Hahaha...I was thinking of starting a discussion on whether what are our fellow myLotters preferences between chicken and fish.... Then now I noticed you have already started this interesting discussion....similar but different meat..lol Okay...I love to eat pork, especially pork knuckle, one popular menu is German Pork Knuckle (deep fried..delicious!) You can cook pork in any style, in whatever cuisine, be it Chinese cuisine, Thai cuisine, Western style...I enjoyed them all! Beef are my favourite too, but normally they advise not to over eat because beef is red meat, more cholesterol! I love stew beef, western steak, beef slices fried with vegetables.. wow, they are yummy...talking about food make me hungry! Yes, the one that you mentioned 'hotpot', in Malaysia we called it 'steamboat' ~ Chinese style, Thai style, Korean style.. you can put in anything you like...we enjoyed it very much! So, please do not asked me to choose between pork and beef. Let me have both of them, please......... tks! Thanks and do keep in touch!

dear iriene, you always make me smile with your delightful ideas. i hope you realize by now that you are one the people i look up to here in mylot. i'm glad to hear that you have a menu similar to our "hotpot" here. but the name doesn't sound so edible. come on! steamboat? i'm sure though that it tastes just as good as our hotpot here. or maybe even better! whoever came up with the name anyway? well never mind. i know it's hard to choose between the two. so don't worry, you're free to eat them both at your liking. i hope you do leave some for me. as talking about food has made me hungry and it's still 5:53AM here. anyway, about what you said that beef has more cholesterol than pork, i didn't know that. i always had the notion that pork had more cholesterol. was about to research online but then i decided to just create a topic on it. that way, it would be more interesting. you don't mind do you? i hope you'll reply! happy mylotting!
