You will not be here in myLot to earn money if you are rich in the first place. What I mean here is not about the financial aspects in us. We may be rich because many things we that cannot be measured by money. In my case I am rich because of my friends and my family, because of health (I never experienced being confined in hospital and the relationship I have with God through Christ) and the way I handle money (I don't have big sum of money but I can budget money at hand for my needs). Sometimes I think it is better to count the things we have instead of complaining about the things we don't. Now, do you consider yourself rich? In what aspect?

How right you are.I see marrages split up as they are constantly arguing over money about how many times they go to gym,who spends most of a night out,"she has been out more than me ect." Some people measure riches in what material goods they can buy the lastest mobile phone,or computer, blackberry, dishwasher, ect.I like you are not rich in money although we are fortunate as we have enough to live on.We have learned to live within our budget,we have lost friends because they want us to go out to dinner at expensive restaurants,go away for spa breaks but if we did that we would not have enough for savings ,and general living expenses. They have got into debt and call us boring,so we would rather be boring than live fast and lose our home and our self respect. Some things are not measured in money but I would rather have my life with my husband than that of some of my friends.

Thanks for replying. Now I pity those people who were born with rich parents and are not given the chance to learn about the importance of money. There are times when they cannot relate to a person in need and won't help them because they don't know how it feels to be in need. I guess in the street, it is also the poor who help the poor. They are those who experienced and know what it is to be in need.

I agree some kids do have it easy although parents spend what they have. Some people know the price of everything but the value of nothing. You see kids walking around with the latest mobile, expensive trainers, clothes ect all provided by doting parents. They have no real idea of how much hard work it took to buy those items. kids grow up getting everything they need and much they don't ,they grow up with wealthy parents.Once upon a time those parents started off with hardly anything working hard to provide a nice home for the family. Then when the kids get married they expect to have all those luxuries straight away and expect the parents to provide it for them. There does not seem to be any rational these days. Then when they cannot have a modern kitchen and luxury bathroom they get upset and leave the relationship, plus they also expect to go the gym ,foreign holidays ,the kids have kids then the parents cannot have their special time or continue with all their pre kids hobbies. When we first got married we thought we had had a good week if we could pay the rent and feed ourselves, second hand bed,and all our furniture was begged and borrowed off any one that had finished with it.I do realise this is not everyone and those who enjoy the struggle work hard will have a happier life, building and acheiving things together forms a solid rock on which to base a life time partnership.I have had several of my nieces and nephews who have only been married a few years, one did not even make it to the alter as they could not have everything and every comfort, parents made it to easy for them and spoilt them rotten.

As an added extra to make my point. My kids grew up with me on my own,not to go to deep, they had to work part time doing odd jobs around the village, there was more opportunity in those days. pre health and safety days. They are both is stable relationships both expect to work hard and pay as they go.Quite a few of their friends who had much better upbringing financial wise, nice kids though, have all split up from their partners some of them have two or three families, they have to pay maintenance for the children ,so they are paying now I suppose but really sad.I won't bore you with anymore ,just such a good discussion felt like I ought to give it my all, thank you.

As you stated we aren't rich in money but they are many other ways to be considered rich in. I am not rich in friends(Unless you count those here at Mylot, then I would be rich with friends)I am not rich in health..my health on a 1-10 scale is about maybe a 6 1/2 But I can do things to change that..(if I had the willpower)I do have a large family so I am rich in that aspect, even if most times they are quarreling..

I have read a book about human imperfections. There are things that we have and we cannot change and there's no other way to get away from it but to accept it. One fact is our relatives. :) We may be disappointed with them but no matter what happens they will still be our relatives. The best way to react with it is just to accept them who they are. That's what I have read on the book. :)

We love them but we don't have to like what they do..that is what mom is always saying..she loves us but she doesn't have to agree with what we do.But family is family..we might quarrel but we try to have each others back if it is someone besides family messing with us.

I am rich in that I have a lot of family, a husband, a cat and a good safe home. We also have enough money to pay our bills, buy food and things we need and the occasional treat. Things could be better but they are allright as they are too. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Even with a small bank account, I am contented with my spiritual wealth. Any wealth on earth is only temporary and could not be brought with us to the next world. The only wealth that can pass through the gate of heaven is the spiritual wealth that we have prepared ourselves for our journey back home to our heavenly father.

That is one thing I forgot and the most important of all. We have our riches here on earth but it is those riches that can be with us when we die are the ones which are our true riches.

I am definitely not rich in money, that's for sure! But then again, I don't think I need to be! As long as I have enough money for basic necessities, I can be happy. I don't need a lot of expensive stuff to be happy. I definitely feel rich in other aspects of my life. I am loved by a lot of friends and family members. I am in good health. I do a lot of volunteer work and help others, so that makes me feel very good! I think I have a very good life and I'm rich in the ways that matter!

Yes, we really don't need a lot of money to be rich. The only thing that matters is how we handle the money we have in hand. Many people have big salary but they also spend big. That is nothing compared to a person with limited money but can budget it wisely. :) Now we can celebrate because we are rich with things that cannot be bought by money...

Personally this is a Great way to look at things for sure. I know overall even if I do not have all the money I really wish I had, or some of the things I really need, I know that God has blessed me with Health and strength to overcome anything I am going thru when I just learn to Trust him and believe for something greater as well. Because as long as you have Family, Friends and a roof over your head sd well as Health as you know it, you are rich for sure.

What a great post. I am by all means rich. There have been times when I have had money, more than now, and been much poorer. I am rich in friends and in experiences. Wealth is a matter of perspective. Yes, count our blessings and do not mourn for what we do not have.

I am rich through being a child of God and I am rich in that I am fairly healthy even though many of my age are not. I also am rich in that I look younger. I am rich in that I have a good singing voice and I am good at writing. Not that good at money handling though, but I do try. I am not the type who likes to not have enough finances, as it does hurt. However right now I am not worrying, mainly because I put all my trust in Christ and know that HE will open up things for me.

You're rich indeed. Having a relationship with God through Christ is the greatest among the riches we can find here on earth.

Dear friend, As far I am considered I do really need money as I have lots of depts and borrowings. I do agree with you, as many things cannot be measured by money. I do consider life to be more peaceful than being rich I do want mental peace more than any.

i am rich, and it depends of what the word rich means to me. like you said you are rich yourself because you have a lot of friends. i am rich too because i live with my fortune and that is my wife and my three year old son. happiness that money cant buy and love that money can not equal. so i can say i am rich and the richness i have makes me happy and contented.

I am poor - I am poor - rejected
Hi wrangler, you are so right about what rich means. It is not just about wealth only. One can be rich in experiences and wisdom and the kind of following one has among friends and loved ones. One needs very little to lead a happy satisfied life. How one is able to achieve happiness and inner peace with whatever little or more one has is what counts. I think I am somewhere in the middle neither too rich nor too poor LOL

God gave us our lives to enjoy the things we have. It would just be silly to think about the things we don't have when in fact we have many things to enjoy in our lives. :)

I you may not be rich today but will be later on. When I was also a student I usually lack money. I would budget it to survive but then I can see the effect. I am now used to not buying things not really needed and by the things I do in college, it is still what I do right now which makes me save some money. It is not about the money but the attitude I have learned from being lack in money before. :)
