Just looking to get everyones opinion on what guitar I should look into buying. I'm looking for a guitar in the $200-$300 range. I've been looking at Ibanez. I currently play a fender squier. I want a smooth playing guitar that sounds good. I play mostly 90's grunge/alternative.

More than likely, you will have to go through several guitars, until you find 'your' guitar, each guitar has it's own personality, I accidentally found mine, and it was an Ibanez SX series! I've played Les Pauls, Stratocasters, Telecaster, Gibson SG's, and several off brands, and my Ibanez is just perfect for me, It has the tone I like, the knobs don't get in the way, it's not that heavy, and it stays in tune, even when one string breaks! It plays so smooth, that when I play other guitars, there is a big diffence!

thanks for the comment. Ive been through only 3 guitars. they have progessivly gotten better. My first was a hand me down Synsonics, i cant remember who made it but it has a little tiny amp built into it. My second was a cheapy that came in a starter kit for like $90. then i bought the squier, which still isnt great but its been a good guitar for the time being.

I think you will like the Ibanez, especially for the economical price! There are better, but they cost a lot more!

Really, I don't care for either model. Squiers, the knobs tend to get in my way when I play. I like to rest my hand on the bridge and the way I strum and rest my hand to mute, sometimes I'll accidentally turn the guitar down or change the tone of the guitar without realizing it, because I'm too busy jamming out, getting lost in the moment. And I'll play with my eyes closed. Ibanez are good for playin' '90 grudge, I just think that they're too heavy to put a show on with, after jammin' my shoulder hurts like a mugg. Good sound, though. I like the SG's and epiphone hollow bodies, I like the way they give off a fuller sound, resinates. What to look for?.... Well, if it feels good to you, and you like the sound that it gives off, then play it. I heard of the really good guitarists loving the guitars they made themselves, or the $80 guitar they found at the pawn shop. It's all on you. You create your own sound.

yeah i bought my squier about 10 years ago and im sick of it. the knobs do get in my way too. I do like the look of Ibanez but never played one. I never really thought to check pawn shops but now that you mention it i might take a look through a few of them

Yeah man, definitely buy an Ibanez, if you can find one that suits your budget. I have an Ibanez RG 470 and I love it. It's so good to play and it sounds great. They don't make RG 470 model anymore, but it's like RG570. RG270 would be a good bet for you, it's bit cheaper, but still a really good guitar. I hope this was helpful. Good luck with guitar hunting.

Uhmm, for me Gibson guitars are my fav. Ibanez guitars are good too. Just try to listening to the sound of the guitar that you will buy in a good amp so that you can pick a good guitar. Just hear the tones and quality of sound made before purchasing it.
