You choices of vehicles depend on your lifestyles and your purposes in buying a car or bicycle depends on different factors which you may think as a convenient. However, in time of global crisis, that is happening all over the world. What kinds of transportation would you choose to buy? Kindly give your opinion on this matter is highly appreciated. In my own opinion if my itinerary require me to travel for a long distance, i will buy a car. But, if I only have to used a vehicle to travel in short distant, I will buy a bicycle. How about you? What would you buy, a car or a bicycle?

If I was within walking distance of a job I would simply walk until I built up enough spare cash to afford the given car & then purchase one as paying for a car without any spare cash would be kind of pointless being that you would rarely get to go out and enjoy yourself and hang out with your friends n' whatnot. I would not ride a bicycle much of anywhere, really. It's just not safe on any kind of road.

Walking is a good form of exercises if you work is closer to your homes. but, it is far, better off ride a bus or taxis and must cheaper as a temporary resort. it is good to save to buy a car than taking a car loan will going to put you more in debt. Bicycle is good for short distance travels but not really convenient if you have a lot of companion. both have their own special purposes it is only accordance to the person need and he may use both of them...

In our society today, a car has become a necessity and an important tool in our living. Unless, public transportation and infra-structure are well planned and efficient as in some countries, most can't live without a car. In fact, it is common now that most families have more than one if not two cars. However, to safe guard the environment and to remain `green', I am definitely going for the bicycle for short trips around the block, the the convenience stall or the the groceries shop. In fact, I am shopping for one right now.

Wow, going green could saves you a lot of money rather than spending in fuel which could pollutes the environment. I appreciate your contribution to make the mother earth free from noise and pollution. Their are also green cars but i think they cost much. Definitely, I have no against in buying cars or bicycles it really depend on a person need and how they look at it as effective mode of transportation.

I would definitely buy the car onstead of a bicycle. I do not like to ride a bike anymore. I would rather have the comfort of a car so I could go to alot of places quicker also.

I would choose to a bicycle over a car any day. First, I dont know how to drive yet. Second, Id get the much needed exercise that I could have in a bicycle. Third, I wouldnt have to worry about parking space. Seriously though, I still want to have a bike. Ive always wanted one and I have already outgrew the age of having a bike but I still want to have one. Parents would refuse and offer me a car instead. Im not sure if they're bluffing but they better watch out if I learn to drive and call their bluff.LOL I agree with you that if I have to travel long distances then Id of course opt for the car but if the distance is manageable then Id rather have the bike. I guess it would depend on the purpose in buying those transport vehicles. Best thing to do about it is to have both!

I guess you're right about that. Im not really directly aware of the costs of using both. Oh well, if all else fails, I can always use the public transport.^_^

Using a bicycle is more economical and wise saving having no need for gasoline and with less space it require to little maintenance which is highly opposite of owning a car. Though, both have their own purposes and it is just a matter of time you would both acquire them when you already learn to drive them. It is then you could you feel the thrill of comparing which one of them is better or worst.

I agree that bicycle can protect our environment but considering my current situation, I don't intend to cycle to work with the distance is around 16 km and the weather is scorching. We have bus but it may come or it may not. I need a car. We don't have a choice of buying green vehicle here so I have to settle with a normal one.

I would buy a motorcycle if I could. They are easy on gas and they are not hard to take care of. I like to ride them, but you have to be careful of the people around you. They some times do not see you, and that can cause you to have a accident. Have a blessed day.

Motorcycles is also good but be sure to wear helmet. as what you mention most accidents on the roads involves a motorcycles. even you are very careful driver other drivers are reckless and as what you says you will never know who bump you either on your back or in your sides. Okay, be careful driving...thanks

Of course I would go for a car because I usually travel longer distances and it cannot be done in a bicycle. And the roads in our country are not go good to support bicycle ride for everyone. Only the ones who cannot afford due to their low financial position, go for bicycle.

It depend in your lifestyle as what you have stated and consider your budget too.I had my car for long or short travel,it is more conevient with lesser time, you know how long it is to take us when we travel with passenger jeep. And when travelling long distance, more convenient and less expenses. Like when my kids and i used to ride bus going to Baguio,it takes 1,600 for a bus fare for 4 persons 400 pesos each. And it is just a one way fare.Hence if we travel with our car we only consumes 800 pesos for gasoline,means,1,600 for a one way bus fare,we can use it for our gasoline for a back and forth expenses already. And i also us it for kids school service, which is again lesser in budget if i will hire a school bus for them. Hope this can help u ddecide which to buy my friend,i only suggest you buy a new car instead of a second hand.Have a good day

Hello I say go with a car. You need it for almost everything you do. Even if your jobs close you could get fired and have a further away job which then you'll need a car immediately.

Having you own car is a very convenient when you have your family with you. Also, if you are not used in riding a public transportation and annoy by the traffic. By having you own car you could use a short cut route or choose the roads to go where their is less traffics. Both cars and bicycle have their own special purposes. cars for long distance travels and use bicycles for short distance travels. Their uses depending on the need of the user..

I think I would prefer buying a bicycle than a car, with the increasing rate of fuel prices these days a bicycle is preferable for our essential commuting and is also the best way of exercise.
• Philippines
29 Jul 09
It also depend on your purchasing power and the manner of the purposes where you will uses the vehicles. For practical reasons, it is good to opt to buy a bicycle if you are really into savings and also concern with the inflation and deflation of prices. Also, cars are good if you have stable jobs and you could finance it. bicycles is for short distance travels and good companion when going to enjoy the outdoors with few company of friends..

Ok, so no booing me for this one: Neel, Honesty, I think it depends on where you live. Since I live in a small state, I could get away with purchasing a bicycle. It's cheaper and healthier than a car. And with the economy the way it is, do you think you can afford $50-60 a week on gas or more with routine maintenance? Besides, everyday living has become so much more convenient and people has been becoming so lazy relying on everyday "Pleasures" or "Luxuries". Not to mention, look how polluted our Mother Earth is getting! Ok, stop with the booing, I'm just being "weird" but "honest" :-) lol

The option of buying a car really depend on the purchasing power of a person who have the money and never ever force yourself to buy a car if your salary is below the standard. Then, you are force to have a car loan for showing in your friend to boost your confidence. it is unhealthy. but, if you have a lot of money. then, it is alright to buy a car and never deprive yourself of the luxuries it can give. well, being honest to your opinion is good. you have to consider many options and it also depend on the user needs..

I'd definitely choose buying a car. Bicycles are cheap when you compare it with the value of cars. So if you can buy a car, that would mean you can easily buy a bicycle. So yeah, I'd go with my first choice. However, if there's a flying bicycle, well... DUH!!!
• Philippines
29 Jul 09
oh.. a flying bicyclewell definitely is a must..only in future..but both have their own special purposes that is why they are made. cars for convenience, to manage a lot of family and goods. Then, a bicycle for short diatance travels..

Bicycle is good sources of exercise for our body. it is cheap and could use it in an instant without relying on a fuel. It is a best alternatives to used when cars got no fuels rather than walking when a car broke down. The passengers have no choice but to wait for a repair man to fix it while in bicycle a slight repair could do well..

Its a difficult choice. Most people would spring for the car... But its hard because you're investing so much money in an industry that is desparately struggling and will be required to make more efficient models in just a few years. And with money being so tight, you have to analyze all of your options. I've personally decided not to buy a vehicle. I get around by walking, biking, bus, or family. I really don't feel comfortable investing into a business that could a.) be outta business very soon or b.) come out with something WAY better in a short amount of time that makes my investment look foolish. I'm gonna stick it out and see where this economy takes on. I'm not going anywhere.

it is good to consider a lot of options. it is better to be simple and mange to ride in public transportation if you could saves a lot of money. what really is undesirable things to do is to loan a car then see yourself in debt. just for a show off or a status symbol is not right for you have a deeper understanding of the uptight economy. their are many things to consider if you think spending on car is not a wise decision then you could find another outlet or best source of income that will add in your earnings rather than subtracting your salary with every payment with a car loan. goodluck
