As a T-shirt and jean university student I must say I don't feel like one. Every day I take the bus to the university I get to see these girls with layer and layers of make up, shirts so tight and skirts so short that it makes you wonder how comfortable can that be. then you have the guys "proudly" showing their underwear in these jeans that are literally falling off of them. And I don't know where I really stand, rather where my generation stands. What happened in just 4 years? Sometimes I feel like a granny and sometimes like an 8 year old. I know that there are people from around the world in MyLot and I would like to know about your opinion on what is going on in your society and how you feel about it. Thanks and happy mylotting

hi mimunche. actually they are trying to be ultra modern. they don't know what it means. they think that these type of dresses and some extra ordinary behaviours are enough to be ultra modern. their father should prevent them from doing these nonsensese but some parents are proudy with their chidrens attitude. nothing going to be happened except increasing social criminism. lol.

I think that is the core of the whole thing. I would feel bad in front of my parents and I am sure they would feel very comfortable to see me dressing up in a more revealing way. I guess everyone is trying to become "cooler" than the other that they are not really judging their own style.

The way my sister and I are completely different. I'm more the tee shirt and jean girl and being comfortable...and I will dress up as well but I'm more for the comfortable look. My sister who is 3 years younger than me is one of the girls that dresses up in the tight outfits, loads of makeup and everything like that and we are only 3 years apart. It's really weird how things can change so much in just 3 years.

That is what I really don't understand. So much in such a short time.

Its all about who you are, and how secure you feel about yourself. University kids are at a difficult stage in life. They are trying to look secure, while questioning their own security. It appears, that you are a few years ahead of your time. You know who you are, and feel secure in that knowledge. This security allows you to dress comfortably, without trying to make a statement. I remember being 21 and trying to buy bedroom furniture on time. The salesman told me I had to be 21 to buy on time. I was quite upset with the man because he was telling me I didn't look like a 21 yr old. On the whole, I feel good about our society today and where its going. These kids will grow up, see the folly of their ways, and turn into good Canadian citizens.

I must say I like your optimism. As for the salesman case, for me is a common thing. I have such a baby face. It is hard to convince people sometimes

Well my opinion it really depends on how you want to dress. I dress how I feel good in. I dont follow anyone I wear what I want to wear wether it be in or not. I am me. As you are you. I am sure you like how you dress. Most the time girls follow not lead and other times they feel they need attention and dress well revealing. It could be a personal issue. Other times people arent happy with there bodys and tend to hide in there cloths. As for the sagging pants thats just nasty:| my opinion. Dont want to offend anyone.

I think that is great and you are very right about girls following the trends rather than dressing on something that they really love.

i personally think we are living in the "pansy age" everyone is so afraid to discipline their kids that its ridiculous. yeah i went through a rebellious stage in my teens just a few years ago. the difference is that i still had respect for my parents, family, school teachers, law enforcement and elders. Now adays kids get away with just about anything

Most certainly. We all go through that age but you are so right, there is much less respect these days for other people specially the parents
