Would you die for your beliefs?

This is a question for all theists and atheists. If you were about to be killed for your beliefs would you renounce them and live or stick with your beliefs and die? I'm just curious how strongly people believe in their religion or lack of religion. I personally would stick with my religion.

You mean would I be so strong in my belief to rather die than deny it? My answer is no, what is true is, this is a fact not a belief, no matter how truth is denied it still exists as truth. Whether I live or die will not change it. would I die to save some one else, than the answer is yes, the life of this body is not that important and the energy within it will go on.

I completely agree with this answer. I would choose to live another day to help or save someone. Plus, one must always put their loved ones in mind. Will they be able to survive without you? Giving my life for my beliefs could actually be selfish if it leads to the helplessness of any children or elderly person.

I would die for my religious beliefs, yes. I am Christian and to renounce God just for this life would be completely wrong and selfish in my eyes. I know many people say they would die for their beliefs and really wouldn't if the time called for it. In the Bible it does say those who die for their beliefs in cases such as these get more recognition for their faith. I don't know how this belief is with other religions, though, and I'll be interested in reading the other responses on it. :)

Hi.....incredibleDNA As we are believing in a religion, different people believe in different religions. And there should not be any clashes between the people those who beleive in differnet religion. No religion is going to attain anything after losing the life of its followers. In my opinion it is better to learn and understand what is good in other religions and ty not to criticise the other religions. As we have faith in our religion, others have faith in their religion. So respect others, we will get more respect than we deserves......Happy mylotting

Well, some people would renounce anything they could do in order to live. But personally I think if its my time to go then its my time to go, God wouldn't make me face that choice if he wasn't for certain what the answer would be. Job was tempted many times by satan and his angels. Because Job never gave in although it was tempting at times, God rewarded Job for it in the end. Besides the bible says for us to lay our treasures up in heaven not on earth. We're only here for a little while anyways, what matters is what we do while we are here. If our time is up, then we know where we are going when all is said and done and renouncing or not renouncing wouldn't be the issue. Judas renounced jesus after walking with him and people seeing with him and in the end was crucified the way Jesus was crucified. so tell me how renouncing my beliefs that God is control and Jesus was his son would help me in the long run. I think I'd rather have what Job had anyday than be crucified like Judas was.

If it was my life on the line, I would not deny what I believe in just to live. But if it was someone I care about who's life was on the line, I am not sure what I would do. Not that it would happen, but still something to think about.

If any believes in anything, he should die for it. Otherwise, his belief is not a real belief. It is a just a mere wondering and an escape from the truth.

i certainly would not renounce my religion. That would be a cowardlt thing to do as far as I am concerned. Moreover, when people feel they have an edge over you and that they can get you to do their bidding by issuing threats, you become much like their beating sticks. Id rather die than have anyone dictate or pull my strings at their own will and fancy.

Hi Friends!I would not die for any belief, if i could help it. I would lie to the authorities, publicly renounce, then practice my belief in secret. I would pass the secrets on to others. I believe i would do more good that away. Plenty of people have done so.

Right, I wrote a long answer, but loading errors made me lose it twice and mylot won't let me paste. So long story short: no. He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day. Would very much rather live and fight them back than dying because of my pride.

I sure would not lie. If someone said to believe in something or die I think I would choose die. I mean if someone wants me to lie then it would be agianst that religion anyways. I do not believe in organized religion anyways i think its incredible evil and it takes over peoples lives.
