comma splices

I will admit it, I am a very lazy writer. Not a lazy writer so much as a lazy editor/proofreader. My English is fine but I am having so much trouble with my comma splices. I pay a subscription each month for the use of a software program called Essayrater. I found out today that though it picks up more than I can, it does not pick up all of the grammar mistakes that I make. So, I have had articles sent back to me for re-editing. Does anybody out there know of some superb software that I can learn from. Yes, I have learnt a lot from Essay rater, but I need to learn more and I do not have the time to spend a week or more reading books.

I was always taught that you place a comma in a place where you would normally pause when speaking. As in, "Norma, it's so good to see you!" or to separate things as in "one, two and three". Using that rule, I've rarely misplaced a comma!

Yep I have an excellent 'editor/proofreader' LOL her name is Carol :) Dear lady I have known for several years offered to do the job for me - I am the same as you, not lazy just don't catch them all no matter how many times I go over it. Am going to keep an eye on this discussion though to see what others recommend.

WOW i never new such a software exists! Sorry i'll not be able to help you much with the software you are looking for but you gave me a news that i can use for my freelancing projects too. But when you write in Microsoft Word doesn't it highlight the grammatial errors. I generally use that :)
