What do you do with your loose change?

We all have loose change (sometimes it's all we have hahahaha)... But okay, seriously, when you have loose change, do you: put it in a coinbox? give it to beggars? save it for parking? save it for coin laundry? save it for phone calls? toss them away?

Tossing them away wouldn't even cross my mind. Pick some up when I notice any on the floor or on the road. I would often keep them as I usually need them when I need to go to work or I am alredy headed home. Having loose change is quite good since you can pay the exact amount for fare and you wound't have to worry about how long they would take, most of the time, to give you back your change. I would often hear them say, 'Sorry, we don't have a change for that bill yet..' so I have to wait and even remind them of my change most of the time which is a little quite annoying.. I even think that they intend to not mention your change on purpose (-_-") I do want to deposit them at the bank but, the amount of change that I get usually isn't that much not like when you compare it to other people who could actually make a routine out of their loose change.

I put it in my coin purse.. Just save it for some other expenses.. sometimes when it becomes to heavy I use it to pay for lunch. lol. the lunch lady would just look at me while I count the coins in my hand as payment for lunch.. lol. I never throw coins away, and I don't have a coin bank.. so the only thing I could really do is just put it in my coin purse and save it until it's enough to pay for lunch or something. hehehe.

I agree, loose change can really add up without you noticing it.. specially if it's 5 and 10 peso coins... sometimes, there are so many of them, I can pay for my lunch for 2 days with just using my coins. lol.

You should maybe get a coin bank then, Ingkingderders? I mean you are already saving your coins, so you might as well do it properly! :)

I put my loose change in a piggy bank shapped as a baby bottle with a blue lid and cash it in, in one of those coin machines. It's mostly pennies that I put in there. All other change like quarters and nickles and such I keep in my purse for other uses that I might need them for.

Loose change goes into a jar in the kitchen. When it's good and full, I put it in the bank! It's amazing how quickly it can add up!

I have a lot of loose change, and I usually keep it in a coinbox. In some situations I need coins for instanse if I want to park the car, buy bustickets, use a shopping cart, use the luggage room at the train station, use a public bathroom etc. I never spend all of my coins on those things, there is always something left, and the money that is left I take to the bank. Sometimes I have enough coins to buy groceries for a month or two, and that is very nice especially when I am trying to save up money for other things.

Hi patofgold, can you believe we don't actually acquire much loose change here so there really isn't a question regarding what to do with it. In the local food shops if the bill is 7.97 for example they don't give the 3 cents change. On the other hand if the bill is 8.05 they round it down to 8. That way they are not constantly plaugued by needed to keep the loose change topped up which is necesary as the main banks are an hour away. So no issue with loose change.

if you lose 3 cents everytime you visit a shop... you think you've lost so much already? credit cards might come in handy....

I have a piggy bank where I put the biggest coins. They go for vacation . The other I use for eggs or I fill a jar with the smallest ones and take them to the bank to be changed. I piggybank is beautiful and I bought it in Aruba where I was last year for 2 weeks (with money earned online) So,you see I make good use of my money.

Well I am from India and I regularly travel by bus.So I always keep my loose changes withh myself so that there are no hassels with the bus conductor for tickets and return of change.Have a good day

I save it, and put it in a "coin jar" (I actually use an empty water bottle for it, that I break once it is full). It is a great way to save actually! You might not think so, but all that change really does add up after a while!

give it to beggars, makes you feel good about yourself and youre doing something to help out. Theres a interesting idea to give you spare internet change to net bums. I dont like being face to face or getting harrassed by panhandlers, so actually on a couple occasions Ive given spare change to this enetbum.com. It paypals to enetbum@gmail.com, pretty cool idea, dont know if I'm actually helping someone out or not, but I feel good about it and could care less.

I rarely have change if am honest lol, as always use my debit card only change I ever use is I have a few pounds in the car for parking or the very odd occasions where I might have a few coppers in change I give them to my kids and let them save it in a money box then spend it once it gets to a decent amount.
