Windows 7 -The future of OS?

As all of you should now, Microsoft will come out with a new operating system that will obsolete Windows Vista. Windows 7 Beta-Release Candidate, is already released free right now until the end of August, so you can try it out today! There have been a lot of great reviews on Windows 7 and a lot of people say it is a great improvement over Vista, who a lot of people complained was lacking in performance, as it was very laggy and slow moving. So what is your take on this new Microsoft innovation? Is it a flop or will it be competitive in this heating battle of the operating system to the Mac X OS?

I started one and participated in three discussions involving Windows 7.. All of them were so very inactive that it had only 2,3 posts even after days.. This looks much different.. I wonder wats the technique behind getting people to respond to your posts? And about Windows 7, I should say it is the best ever Gaming OS till date.. Much more stable than the resource thirsty vista, less number of errors (not like XP, and the Vista (with no: of errors improved). the additional interface features also looks good. Doesn't matter whether it was copied or not still, they've done it very helpfullu.. In terms of performance reports say that it performs better than the Mac OS X on equivalent systems.. This is ofcourse great news for microsoft.. as apple is their main non open source competitor. Lets hope for the best.. Certainly its not gonna be like wat Vista became! Lets hope for the best. Thanks for posting this topic!

That's right. And compatibility issues are rare in windows 7 ,That's another plus point .But it would take some time for it to earn respect .It will surely be a victory , I hope all of u used the release candidate ! All we heard were a lot of positives . And forget about copying .The entire human life is a copying process , our language ,style and speech are all results of copying .So give them a break! Let them keep copying ( wish they had copied the free distribution strategy of ubuntu JOKIN''''''')

For me, Windows 7 is just a tweaked version of Vista. You have to provide high-end PC in order to make sure that you can run this OS smoothly. And one more thing that I don't like about Windows 7 is that it takes a lot of space on your hard disk. 16 GB must be allocated just for the OS itself. They're suppose to shrink this OS a little bit. As we can see, for new Mac OS - Snow Leopard, they cut off 6 GB off from the OS, and that is what I call improvement. Just my 2 cents of thought. =)

You are right, but only to a small extend : I don't think 16 Gb is A LOT OF space in the present day market ,we can get a TB hard disk for as low as low as 75 $. Now that is 1024 GB . If u think that's an exxageration , then think about those typical 250 GB HDD, 16 GB is less than 10% of its capacity ! If u are still stuck with an 80 Gb HDD, TIME TO UPGRAaaaaaaaaaaaDE...........

With the emergence of the open source OS I think MS windows 7 will face large competition both from MAC OS and those Linux OS that is becoming popular nowadays. I can see in the Computer shops that some Laptops are integrated with Linux OS as an alternative to Windows which is a bit pricey for most buyers. With the restrictions of its licensing i think many are now thinking otherwise if they can buy new PC that is affordable and use Linux OS would be an advantage. Their office software is also being competed upon by OpenOffice.org already which I saw as being pretty much like what MS offices offer with slight difference which is negligible already if you are using MS Office. I think MS should try a different strategy now as they are losing the fight already and I think it is right time for them to give to many after they were able to earn already.

Howdy bluesinjid! For clarifications as this is posted on microsoft.com .... The Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) downloads end on August 20, 2009. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows 7 before March 1, 2010. For the new users of Windows that will be nice for them but for previous users (those who still like to play classic windows games or applications) are not so good. The problem is compatibilities. It doesn't support for those games and applications on for those runs only on Windows XP down to Windows 98. There's workaround in order to run those applications and games on Windows 7, either DOSBOX for Dos or what Microsoft suggesting is to download and install their free Virtual PC 2007 SP1 so you can install as Guest OS the Windows XP Professional or Vista installed on it for free, I think. Windows 7 as the future OS. I answered no. Linux are still the future OS or might even the Solaris of Sun Microsystem maker of JAVA, OpenOffice, Mysql and more. By the way, Microsoft building these new versions of Windows (such as Windows 7) are also comes from the participation of other groups companies like Novell maker of Linux Suse. The competitions is not really with Microsoft, Apple or Linux as we may know. But the real battle is on UNIX, LINUX and Sun Microsystem. Their weapons are on how their Desktop Environment presentation really works or their Application Programming Interface (API), GUI, Kernels and File Systems Structures. And for the best and still my best is Apple Mac OS and its a UNIX. And this my future, Apple Mac OS. Thanks and Enjoy! myLot!

I have Scanned The Dll's from Windows 7 and i have come to a conclusion. "Windows 7 is a Edited Version of Windows Vita Ultimate and has 2.5% of Features of a MAC LEPOARD OS SOFTWARE. i would not recommend buying it because its just a 1-2GB edit which can be edited by a c+/c++ Programmer i have Attempted in doing so and was successful in Making it but Microsoft's Version took up a Extra 2GB when my version only took up 670MB's from your Hard-Drive. DO NOT BUY WINDOWS-7 IT IS LIKE VISTA. SLOW PATHETIC I WOULD RECOMMEND WINDOWS XP. Rateing 0.00/100.00

Yeah.. thats right.. Windows 7 is just a mix of many features from leapord, and they copied things even from Ubuntu! (As Microsoft always does).. Its strange they claim many of them to be innovative and first time ever and all..But I'm not sure about whether windows 7 is worse than.. XP.. It probably deserves a better rating than XP no?

Well my friend I have heard a lot of good thing aobut the new OS and so I am looking forward to it. I really hope it makes up for the hopeless performance they had with vista. I still feel that vista is one of the worst OS Microsoft every made and they have to make a good come back. Any ways the windows 7 is based on the same kernel as vista but I have heard that it is lot faster on the performance chart and on stability. So lets hope this is the next best thing from Microsoft.

nevertheless window 7 looks better than the previous ..But I feel linux is the best operating system around.. The only thing such as Graphic card support that is causing linux going mainstream ion consumer market. If there is full fledge support such as directX for window design 4 linux.. Linux is going to for mainstream to the consumer market/ What linux need right now ,is a suitable platform for 3d and gaming. I feel linux should be in the number 1 spot if you are comparing against windows : )_

I still am recovering from the vista flop. Vista so reminds me of windows me, in that it really was a beta release that made into an official release. I wished they has never released vista and just opted out to released windows 7.
