Okay - here's what's going on..... My poor kitty cats are fighting the fleas again. I've usually alternated between Frontline and the natural flea spray or the spot on made by Natures Guardian. I don't like using chemicals like Frontline but we live in the country and need something that gets fleas and ticks since most of the cats are indoor/outdoor cats. I've found I can use Frontline for 2 or 3 months and then it doesn't work too well anymore. It's not very good for the fleas anyway, but good at keeping the ticks off. The natural flea spray works for the fleas and ticks, but has to be applied weekly to every ten days. One of the outside cats is a spooky thing about anything we try to put on him. He's about half wild. I can sometimes get away with scratching on him and then sneaking a quick spot on treatment on him, but that's it. I've been looking at food grade of Diatomaceous Earth and wondered if anyone on here had tried it? Looks like the powder would have to be applied every couple weeks but the fleas don't build up a resistance to it like I've seen with the other products. Also looks like you can feed it and it works as a natural de-wormer for tapes, roundworms, etc. What's worked for you? Thanks in advance!

I've used the diatomaceous earth and it worked quite well. i didnt feed it to them i put it on and it worked well. also garlic works well usually garlic powder if you put it on the cats food (hopefully they will still eat it sometimes you have to get the odorless pills and crush them up into some wet food or something they really like) and it will help to prevent fleas, for some reason fleas dont like the garlic as it does come out of the cats pores. the cat nor the you will ever notice the difference but the fleas will. i know you said you were trying to go natural so that is one thing that may work and it wont harm your pets only the fleas.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear the DE worked for you. We give our dogs garlic and it's worked quite well for them, not so easy to give it to our finicky cats though. LOL

Revolution is the best thing for fleas and ticks. It gets rid of all flea cycles including eggs. If your cat is an outdoor cat you need to put it on every month, at the very least during the hotest months... it wont get rid of eggs that land on the carpet though and fleas can live off human blood so you should look more into that as well. Revolution also prevents earmites as well, all round one of the best products to use on a cat. Doesn't help with worms... but fleas, ticks, earmites very good. I use it on my cat even though she's an indoor cat sometimes people manage to carry in fleas and such from outside themselves.

Revolution does work, but we've had a couple cats react to it so I don't like to use it. That's why I'm looking at other options besides chemicals.

My cat is an indoor cat, but even so he gets fleas on ocassion. The dog brings them in when he comes in. I think the cat is lucky not to have many fleas but I use a flea comb when he gets a few on them. The bites tend to cluster around his neck and under his chin. He isnt bothered by them too much.
