Today I learn yoga in a health club. It is the first to practice it and I think it's intersting.I am wondering what is the benefit to practice yoga? Another question:is yoga mainly for women? When I learn yoga, there is only one male that is me, all the others are female! I am a little embarrassed.

I myself is a male. I did yoga in college as a require course for my general education. I first took it because I thought it wasn't hard at all and it would be an easy A. I find out that it was exactly what I thought. A very easy class. I don't think yoga is a very effective excercise compare to other forms. The reason why I say that is that because of the heavy load of stretch your required to do. Stretching muscle isn't proven to be healthy but it does reduce some wear and tear during competitive performance. Your muscle can build a stronger immunity to the stretching of your muscles which can create elongated muscle which either is easier to tear as you age or it can help reduce soreness. Still there is no total proof of it being benefical or non-benefical. God bless. P.S. I do not practice yoga, I picked up tai chi because it is a lot more healther for the heart and also it doesn't force out body to do extreme levels that can either damage in the longer run or create tendnitious.

yoga is great for flexibility it can prevent many traumas you might get during other exercises of fights. My boyfriend started doing yoga after he pulled his back when exercising with a kattle bell. he is also doing martial arts so it's very important for him.

I have seen more and more people around me do yoga those days, and a friend of mine went to Beijing, which is the capital of my country,to study yoga, and she want to be a Yoga trainer, and it cost her a lot of money and energy, but she think it worth. She told me: "Yoga can make me feel better. Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditation makes me healthier in body, mind and spirit. Yoga lets me tune in, chill out, shape up -- all at the same time. What's more, yoga: Improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina Reduces stress and tension Boosts self esteem Improves concentration and creativity Lowers fat Improves circulation Stimulates the immune system Creates sense of well being and calm. And that's just the surface stuff. In fact, most of the benefits mentioned above are secondary to yoga's original purpose." However,I don't know if it is true, but I think it is a good way to lose weight.

Yoga is for everyone. I don't do yoga consistently but it improves strength, flexibility and balance. Meditation calms, relieves stress, and helps to create balance in your life. I think that typically you will see females doing yoga but I hope that you won't be too embarrassed to stick with it. It's really great exercise. We have a couple of yoga programs on television here and my husband enjoys doing the exercises along with me.

Yoga is meant for all - but now a days yoga is looked at only as an exercise and many woman find it the natural way to loose weight. Yoga is an ancient practice and probably your instructor will be able to give you some "gyaan" on it. It is holistic way of healing many body prblems and also helps in bringing a balance in our systems. Did you know you can loose, gain and even maintain your weight by performing yoga? I have learnt the basics of yoga but do not practice it now. I think i have to tak a resolution to wake up early and perform yoga :)
