Living with a son with ADHD

I recently found out that my 2 and a half year old son has ADHD, I had suspected that he might being that I have ADD. and all in all. So much energy and no way to release it all without him going completely nuts. We went to the doc and was told that he is too young to be medicated...but he's also too young to join most of the kids sports that they have going. Being a stay at home mom with a hubby that is in the military and is gone most of the time and having to care for two kids is hard enough, but when i think that i have to deal with my son's disorder it makes my head spin. I'll love him no matter what but i am just out of ideas to wear him down. His attention span is already beyond short and he gets bored at the park pretty quick. Is anyone else living with a child that has ADHD and do you have any advice for me for how I could get him to wear down, and to possibly listen better?

I had a stepson, that was diagnosed as hyperactive, and they had a lot of trouble in school with him, having so much energy! When we took him to a doctor, it was discovered, that when they made him exercise in school, to 'wear him down', they were actually increasing his adrenaline, and this was 'winding' him up more! The doctor also discovered that apples were making him extra hyper because of a certain reaction to them! I had never heard of this before, but it explained a lot of his behavior, and when we changed his diet, and only gave him 1/2 dose of the medicine they prescribed (because the full dose made him too sleepy) he did a lot better! And as he grew older, he mellowed down a bit! Just keep the faith, and do the best you can, and hopefully you will do alright with him! p.s.-- Thanks for the best response on the other post ksquires ! !
