which is more useful a microwave or an oven?

i can cook but am not a chef and i just don't see any chefs in cooking shows using microwaves except to melt an ice cream by putting it in the microwave for 1 minute. i mean i see no difference in their uses at all. am i wrong? for me, space wise, microwave is more convenient, practical, economical...

I do not use a microwave for anything, i believe that they are not good for your health. My husband gets terrible heart burn if he eats anything from a microwave. even if has just been warmed up. Convince and speed is something i am willing to give up for good health.

so it is really true with what they say with the radiation (?) that microwave ovens give out? i thought it was just an exaggeration since microwave ovens would phase out the traditional ovens.

I think a microwave is better cooking medium to oven. It not only cooks your food but you can warm up your frozen foods in minutes. If you are a person who love cooking you make many dishes with this microwave to please your family.
Moreover microwave is so easy to use that it can be used even by bachelors who are a novice in cooking.

Ritchelle, I will normally get a microwave that has a oven function. This will save up some space in the kitchen. However a microwave will not be that good for baking, and still a practical oven the best. As for cooking in microwave, I have seen a cook show that uses microwave years back, when there is the start of hit using microwave...
