Girls asking a guy out on a date?

For girls out there, would you ask a guy whom you really like, out on a date?
For the boys, is it ok for you if the girl initiates the asking? And if a girl did ask you out, would you say yes or turn her down?
What are your opinions guys? I know that in some cultures it is perfectly acceptable for a girl to ask a guy out on date. But in some other cultures like mine, the norms teach us that it should be the guy who should make the first move.
Personally, i think I wouldn't have the guts to ask a gut I really like out on a date. Maybe I'd drop some hints to encourage him but to actually go up to him and say "Hi, do you want to watch a movie with me or something?" is not gonna happen anytime soon.
I talked to some guys in our culture and some of them would be turned off if the girl does the asking. Some would actually like it because as they say it takes the pressure off.
How about you my fellow mylotters, what do you think?

My first girl friend had asked me out. I did like her , but she was my friend's sister so wasnt really sure what to do.
But I was shocked one day when she gave me a message through the same friend to meet her :)
I think its perfectly ok if a girl asks a guy out.

I also think there's nothing wrong with initiating. I just don't know if I can do it. heheh. Thanks for the opinion aschip!

Well, it all depends on the girl. If she's bold and wants to initiate a date, then (if I were single), I'd gladly accept. These days, anyone could start the ball rolling. Gone were the days when only the guys should initiate while the girls wait. Yeah, maybe in some cultures, it is imperative that guys who are more superior and bold "do the honours" first. For me, it's fine - it works both ways and I won't be offended.

That's nice to know. I think that really takes a lot of guts and confidence from a woman to do that. :)
