Hey hey, I'm a famous author! Yesterday some character loved my divide by zero discussion so much that he copied it. One of you notified me by PM and another of you in this discussion. When I went and looked, there were no responses, just a lot of tags, "stole this from Dawnald", "plagiarism", "reported", etc. Today it's gone. So thanks guys for looking out for me! How many of you have been plagiarised that way? What happened? Have you ever been plagiarized any place else? Stories? Are you all going to tell your kids that you knew me when I was just one of the "little people"?

Yep, EVERYONE wants to be Dawn! I reported that tosser this morning too. I'm not aware of anyone plagiarising me yet, so I guess I'm not "copy-worthy" enough! Just don't lose sight of us all when you hit it big in the literary circles. Poet Laureate maybe?

To my knowledge I have never been plagiarized. I guess I am not worth copying. I can live without the honor, though. Of course it could have happened and I just did not notice it before MyLot did, or some other site.

Lol hey Congratulations, now you are famous and you know that you are awesome, (which I knew anyway) but this has proved it, you want to ask him if he would like to pay you for your Story next time before he puts it Public Yes it has happened to me about 2 years ago, it was one of my Gissi Stories lol

Thanks Gaby, you're awesome too. I'd have thought your Gissi stories were too unique for somebody to think they could get away with it, but maybe in order to be a plagiariser you have to be DUMB. lol

Hi dawn, It is really hurting if you get plagiarized. Now as things have restored and you are back into action no more worry should be haunting you. In my case I have not been a victim of plagiarism so far but the possibility can not be denied.

Here Dawn let me add to the respect for you. LOL sorry couldn't help myself there girlfriend. Anyhoot, nope I can't say I have been important enough as of yet to be plagiarized. Who knows though it's possible I did have a couple of good informative blogs over in yuwie land. I'm now kicking myself where the sun don't shine for deleting the blasted things when I decided to reorganize ugh! Nice to know someone found you're post interesting though eh. I'm greatful to know there are people here that watch out for plagiarizm.

I have not gotten a chance to look to see if you got any new replies to your orignal discussion, but there was one reply that was a beacon signalling people to the original. I was the only one to respond to that plagiarized discussion. The response was calling the guy an idiot & leaving a beacon to your original discussion. He also swiped someone else's discussion, & I left a beacon there to the original discussion. I don't think it's happened to me, but I'm almost always on the look-out, & so are many others.

Little people? Are you telling me you are a leprechaun? I knew about the plagiarized discussion thanks to a mutual friend. Did not bother to tag it or anything cause I was late getting to the party.

I am so excited for you! Wow! Someone wanted to copy your post! That is truly a compliment. But I am glad they caught the little bugger.....I have sometimes posted something and about five minutes later another discussion appears very similar.....not to the exact word but about the same subject.....anyway I am so glad I got to know you before you got so famous! Woo Hoo!

Of course if that happens, it may have been totally independant. One friend actually came by and apologized because she posted a similar discussion right around the same time as mine. At least if they use their own words and their own thoughts and ask different questions, OK. Got no problem with that even if they did get the idea from me. But out and out copying, nope, nuh huh...
31 Jul 09
Hi dawnald, yeah!!! you'r famous, some people cannot think for themself and do it the easy way, COPY... how dumb!!! Tamara

I am so glad they caught them, many people seem to want to take short cuts and discussion material is hard to come by. We all deserve the protection for our hard work.

I hate people who plagiarize, though luckily I haven't been plagiarized by a topic yet on mylot.Actually, there might have been one, the same thing was posted 10 minutes after my discussion. I don't think people plagiarize because they like the discussion, but because they see that the discussion have lots of responses, so they copy it, hoping to get lots of responses and earn lots of money. Instead they just get there discussion reported and deleted, no money made and a complete waste of time. =)

hahaha.. Really? You are famous? Anyway, what happened was bad. Nobody should copy the work of an individual. It is the same with stealing. Whoever copied your work should not do it again. His account should be terminated here in mylot. Maybe he/she was your fan and he/she just wanna share your work.

unfortunately, pretty much anything that is written on the net is up for plagerism. i did some freelance writing several years ago and got ripped off too. if you write something larger such as an article, it may be worth it just to get it copyrighted, but thats a whole nuther kettle of fish.

What I don't understan is why others can't come up woth their own discussion and stel from someone else. It really makse no snese. The person evidently liked the discussion so well, he dedided to copy it, but by doing so, he might just get banned not to mention none of his discussions will ever get resposes. It isn't een original to copy someone else. Maybe he thought no one would notice that he copied it. I never saw the discussion from you or him, but if I had, I probably would have said something as well, as I don't like it when people do that to others. People need to come up with their own discussions and not copy others. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

You're right. I have no problem if he had seen my discussion and he had taken off on a totally different discussion about dividing by zero. Or about not answering a person's question straight out (which was the real point of the discussion). But to flat out copy word for word is wrong and thanks again to my friends for looking out for me!
