I'm pretty sure that almost all of you are familiar with the term "Cannibalism",for those who aren't familiar with the word,it is the term used to describe a human feeding on another human. Cannibalism has been done way before civilization started. I believe that time would be before and after the dinosaur era. As civilization starts, this practice of "Cannibalism" disappeared with. Human learned to respect other human beings and decided to find other food. Today,"Cannibalism" is a very disturbing topic to be raised for it is not accepted by our society and i is considered a crime. Well there was once an incident which freaks me up to now. I have read about this in reader's digest and watched the film.. There was a plane crash which happened in a mountain of snow,I don't recall the actual place but I'm sure some of you are very familiar with it,anyways the rescue team that has been sent can't go on yet with their search because there was a snow storm coming. Back with the plane crash, many have died and many also lived but there was two problem they have to face one is that the food that they have recovered from the plane wasn't enough for all of them and the food supply will only last for few days the second problem is the very cold weather. Many of them are seriously injured and for sure won't take the cold cold weather. Few days past and some of the survivors died because of hunger and cold while the other survivors left are starting to battle against hunger. They burried the corpses of other passengers in the snow but because of hunger they don't have any other choice but to dig the bodies and feed on it. The survivors didn't want that but they need protein for them to survive. Few more days past and finally they were rescued. Sad to think that things had to end that way,but they need to do it for their survival. What do you think of this incident??If you were in that situation would you do the same??

Hi Azaerus, how amazing to actually have the opportunity to meet one of the survivors from this incident, would you like to say who you met. The book 'Alive' was a gripping account of this incident and completely underlined the struggles that each one of them went through regarding the issue of eating human flesh and it clearly was not an easy decision to make and they knew that if they survived and managed to be rescued they may have to deal with attitudes about what they had done. This issue was further expounded in Nando Parrado's own book about the incident. In some cases family members of those who chose to eat found difficulty coming to terms wit it whilst the families of those whose loved ones became the meat which was eaten often showed a generous spirit about what they had done. The media attention focused on 'cannibalism' aspect more than anything but I think I recall that the press within Uraguay treated it with more respect. I firmly believe that they had no other choice and showed great respect in their approach. In the situation here I would have done the same thing I believe.

Oh no,you misunderstood it stvasile the very first person who responded in my discussion was the one who met one of the survivors.I have only read and watched the film about it. Stvasile said that they met the coach who survived the incident in a rugby game.

Indeed,it is still practiced in some counries that still have tribes that doesn't want any civilization in their community. Most of these tribes I believe live in tropical countries. Also in China where in some places they serve a human fetus as their special cuisine.

It was pretty devastating when I first heard about that it. It really makes you aware or try to at least because you'll never know what can happen to you once you walk out that door. But I understand why they choose to do that because when your hungry and especially being in that situation, you'll do anything to survive.

True, when there's no other more solution left they really don't have a choice but too do that if they want to stay alive and survive. I too can't imagine how it would be if put in that situation. But,for sure if I did the same it will haunt me forever.

In some primitive societies, eating the heart or liver or even the brains of their enemies is believed to transfer the bravery, cunning of the person being eaten. This is no longer acceptable to modern people. I don't think I would eat another person's flesh just to survive. Too gross!!

I guess for some they'd rather choose to die than to feed on a flesh of a human being. Though today in some places in China, they eat a human fetus. It's is one of the special quisines that they serve. Now that is more unacceptable,I can't imagine people eating a baby fetus. Oh are you aware of this food in China?

I don't know when it comes to real situations, but i do believe that when a person becomes insanely hungry for some reason, they tend to bend rules and do horrible things. In worst case scenarios, they might end up being a Psychological Zombies feeding on human flesh.....

It's not that they have developed some Psychological problems. It just so happens that the only solution to their food problem is to eat human flesh for them to survivor. They haven't specifically got any problems when it comes to their mind and as said they only tend to bend the rules but in that situation I wouldn't call it horrible thing to do at all. All I know is that it's needed to survive.
