I have some unfortunate news, my Husband fell down the stairs yesterday and broke his Nose, I must of been 21 steps. I had to beg him to go to Hospital. His nose was swollen, and he had this big Scar on his nose. I was suprised that the Doctor didn't put anything on his nose, the Doctor said it would heal own its own? I thought that was weird. seems like it would'nt heal right? I haven't been on Mylot much, It is a lot of Things going on right now, but it is always good to come back. I missed everyone. Havea nice Week ahead!

OUCH!!! Poor Guy, I do feel sorry for him. Hope it feels better soon. His whole body probably aches, I am glad he didn't bust anything else. Take care Marcie, I am off to bed.

Aw!! The poor guy, I can sympathize with him, I've had my nose broke a couple times in my lifetime too. And geez, does that ever hurt!! No, they really don't do anything anymore, outside of re-aligning it. Mine never did heal up right, you can't tell by looking at it, but the slight crook to the side shows up on pictures that are taken full-face. You know, I still think it'd be important to at least have it taped so it wouldn't get crooked while it heals. (You know, like bumping it while you're sleeping or something.) Gosh, that's a whole lot of steps to fall down, thank the Lord he didn't break his neck, back, or something. Good to see you back here, hope you have a nice week too!

Personally, if I had to live with a broken nose again, I would definitely tape it myself. Maybe if I would have taped it those first two times it wouldn't have healed crooked. I know the Dr said it wasn't needed, but evidently when I was sleeping it'd be pressed into the pillow or something. All I know is that it's crooked to this day (and I'm too cheap for plastic surgery lol) Off the subject of broken noses...did you know that they no longer tape up broken ribs either?! Just seems so wrong in my opinion. Besides the tape bringing support and relief, it'd seem it would also keep things straight and from further harm. I do hope it all works out for hubby! I really DO feel his pain just thinkin' about it!

I thought about that too Joy. putting some tape on his nose, because it does kind of look crooked. I thought maybe tape would help it heal a little better. Thanks I will tell him that!

Oh my goodness, MarciaScott, this is just horrible. I hope your hubby's nose does heal ok. I remember when my sister was in a car accident, and broke her nose. She had all kinds of bandages on it. And it seems like they had to be changed regularly. Maybe hers was a little worse, but a broken bone is a broken bone. And then the doctor doesn't want to put anything on it. Doctors charge an arm and a leg anyways, so you would think that you would get a little bit more than "It will heal on it's own." It makes you wonder how much worse health care can get!

The nose consists primarily of cartilege, and there is little that can be done to hold the nose cartilege in place to heal unfortunately. Whenever anyone takes a tumble, they should however, always go to the hospital.. They might appear well and feel well, but there could be injuries unseen, or injuries that won't be noticeable right away. I hope he heals well and soon!
