ok yeah this is silly, we got sidewalks where i live at, but people seem to like to walk in the streets instead and you have to go around them because i guess they think they own the street. so do you have sidewalks and do people actully use them or walk in the street

Not often but then half the time the sidewalks are as dangerous as walking in the road. BUT when we are walking we are sure to move out of the road and I have told the kids that the street is for cars and sidewalks are for people so we have to make sure the cars have the road when they come. We also use the sidewalk where ever we can.

Yes, it seems that they think they are cars/bicycles, vehicles and decide they should be on the road instead of the sidewalk. Just today I had to avoid two people walking right in the middle of the road and just kept walking towards me the whole time and never even moved to the side. I know a few neighborhoods around here that do not have sidewalks and then it is fine they are in the road, but those also seem to be the neighborhoods with smarter pedestrians that stay to the side and move off the road into people's yards when a vehicle comes by.

Yeah syankee, most of the people in my place like using the sidewalks if any is available on the streets. Yeah, it's rather safer to use the sidewalks, for there are lots of vehicles passing by the busy streets all the time. Cars and motorbikes are not allowed to enter the streets for several hours during either the morning bazaar or night bazaar business time. The people hanging around the streets there would be very happy, as they could move around freely finding their favorite stalls to eat delicious street foods or to buy stuffs there without worry about the vehicles Happy posting

I don't have any sidewalks where I live, but that's because I'm out in the country! LOL In town people seem to use the sidewalks to walk on, at least by what I've seen. However, some of these people cross the roads illegally, even when there are cars around. I've seen a few near misses because of it, and a few that I was almost involved in (a couple of those were at night) because these people don't have enough sense to know how to use a crosswalk. It's amazing more pedestrians don't get run over and killed from j walking. It really is. Because j walking happens a lot around here.

OMG syankee- this is one of my BIGGEST pet peaves in my neighborhood!! Young kids mostly rather walk in the street, the middle of the street at that, rather than use the sidewalk graciously provided to them by the city. And what really gets me is when they do not move out of your way- as if they have the right of way!! I understand that most times pedestrians do have the right of way- but I DO NOT consider this one of those times!!!!

i know what you mean they do it here where i live, and then they want to give you a dirty look. it's like get on the sidewalk. and of course if you hit someone by mistake then they will be crying and want to sue. i had this one kid actully walked right in front of my car, when i called the cops the mom got mad. so i was like what if the sun was in my eyes and i didnt see her. then she got really upset after i told her, you're stuipd and your daughter even more stuipd. lol

He told her I cursed him out for no reason..(the nerve, he is about 12 years old...I kindly told him and the grandmother- "I know I look like a kid, but I am old enough to be this young mans mother" and the disrespect towards an adult (me) was not necessary when he was the one in the wrong. She surprised me and went about it old school style and whipped his little behind right on the sidewalk in front of everyone- and anyone from the "hood" knows they probably had this done to them on more than when occasion while growing up...lol

We do have sidewalks here. Most adults and young children stick to the sidewalks around here however, teenagers always seem to like to walk in the street. If there are one or two of them they will use the sidewalk but if there are more than two they are out there walking on the street. Maybe because of space or maybe becuase they are trying to be cool. Who knows.

Ya we have sidewalks here but people rarely use them i do not understand why they want to risk their own life. There are also big hoardings that mention walk on the footpath and be safe and avoid messing of traffic but none care for they think its their own world and do what ever they want which is not at all fare. They never give a question to their mind why these sidewalks are been made due to this there is lots of traffic and its for sure that there will be one or two accidents per day with minor injuries.

I live way out in the country, so their are not any side walks, so when i walk it is in the street. i wish that we did have some because it would make it much safer.

We do have sidewalks, but the hawkers have made it very inconvenient for the public to use it. I still somehow follow the safety rules.

hi, syankee! sometimes i do use the sidewalks but most of the time not because here in our country beggars and other people building their own kiosk at the sidewalks or lay all their stuff at the ground and sell them. This is one of the biggest problem in our country, 90% are occupied by vendor. Once the government take an action to this problem tomorrow or the next they they're back again. That is why are street accidents are high due to this problem.

Most of the people use sidewalks except for the occasional streetwalker and the little kids that like to play in the street.
