Hello everyone. Here in the US, some people take part in what is known as a "progressive dinner party." One family or person will serve drinks and pre-dinner snacks. The party then moves to another home for the main course, and on to a third home for dessert. Have you ever hosted or taken part in one of these? Did you enjoy it? What do you think of progressive dinner parties where people share the work, the expense, and such? Karen

Hi Karen...No I have never participated in one of these and until now I had never heard of them. Sounds like fun though. One would never know what was waiting for them at the next house and that would be what would make it so appealing. (Unless you got someone that didn't know how to cook). flutterby

Hello Flutterby. They are quite fun...and usually kept to once each month or two. LOL, uh huh, it would suck to attend part of the party at a home where the cooking was bad! Yuk! Have a beautiful day Karen

Haven't had, or been to one, lately, but in the 70's we had a large group of friends who did this. My in-laws also had these kinds of parties. I think they're fun, whether you're one of the host houses, or just tagging along. It's more fun when you all live in the same general area. The ones my in-laws held and went to made them travel many miles, and to me that wasn't the fun part of it. All my friends are pretty much scattered in neighboring counties, and it's just not practical anymore to do that without a lot of extra far driving. We had lots of fun times doing those! I usually was the last house (dessert and nightcaps.)

Hello Joy...yes, they can be a lot of fun. It splits the cost and work a bit, and it a great way to visit the homes of friends/relatives all in one night. They always seem best, though, when people live near one another and do not have to travel the many miles. Dessert and night caps...yum! And yes, these can be a great deal of fun. Karen
