As we all know swine flu has been the rage off late. but the real questions are: 1. Are we well prepared? 2. Do we know a prevention method? 3. do we understand how not to contract the disease? 4. When will a vaccine be out? 5. how do i know i'm even infected? it's a scary bunch of thoughts, but if someone can shed light on this?

I would hope that everyone has already been taking precautions by washing their hands a lot...especially before handling food...and staying home when you're sick. I'm not thrilled with the new vaccine that's coming out because it was developed too quickly, with too little testing as far as I'm concerned. As far as knowing whether or not you're infected, I don't think it matters which flu you have. If you're sick stay home, drink fluids, get plenty of rest and watch for a high fever or respiratory distress. If you or someone in your family becomes seriously ill, call your doctor or the nearest hospital for instructions regarding where you need to go. Some hospitals may have areas set up away from the general public specifically for suspected cases of swine flu.
