The people who supple the sound for motion pictures are called Foley Artists. Does anyone know the origin of this title? Was Foley the person who first dubbed imitation sounds into movie soundtracks? If not, then how was the name initiated? If so, then who was Foley? Any information would be appreciated, thanks all.

Hi Mipen, good question. This is what I found, yes, a real preson exists behind the name. A Mr Jack Foley. Foley is a motion picture term, named after Jack Foley, where sound effects are created by a foley artist as he or she watches the projected film. That comes from here. http://www.audiotheatre.com/foley.html Now I also know what to 'Foley' 'whheeep, znyiip, whannng' is. :-)
