What Should I Do With My Life?

I saw this title of a book by Po Bronson and it got me thinking. I never really thought of that question. When I was a teen and they asked me what I was going to be , I always said I don't know.Or when they asked what I wanted to do after highschool , I would answer sleep and watch hockey. All I knew was I didn't want to go to college? I was told the teachers didn't care if you studied or not. if they didn't care , then why should I?Since I didn't know or see anything ,I thought My life should end after highschool. Thankfully my mom told me many people don't know what they want to do.So I just fell into a job I really like. But I still haven't answered that question.I am too busy living my life.Have you asked yourself what you should do with your life?

Hey, I honestly don't really know what you should do with your life, just make sure that you are really happy. It doesn't really matter what you actually do with your life, just make sure you are happy whatever you do. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

I think one doesn't need to think and do something of his/her life. Life will take its course and continue, its us who should just follow. There are things which you can decide but can not really make happen. If you decide that you want to become a pilot, but you can't for some reason, then you will be sad about that which is not necessary I guess. One can think and express a wish about how things should happen, but can not command the unknowns. Take your life as it comes and you will find a lot of happiness in it. The most important thing is to become a good human being, which is very difficult to find now days. My efforts are to become a good human being, the rest will follow.

I'm still trying to figure that out myself. I went to a 2yr school and worked full time for a bogus degree that basically entitles me to working retail as I could not afford to go on to the 4yr school to become a buyer & there were not jobs for that around here either. Soooo now they say medical is the place to be. I have interest in x-ray but I don't know about going back to school and finding out there are not jobs or too many graduates vs openings. Our local hospitals have been laying people off, most recently 25 RN's... Sadly it's also a 2-3yr wait to get into nursing school, will there be a demand again by then or would I of wasted more time & money?

Hi 3SnuggleBunnies, I think i am in the same situation with you. It's not like we already figure out what is our interest and go for it, but there are a lot of other things too, like you said the job demand and market, and the unstable economy . I have a degree in engineering, but computer engineer is not really demanded in my place here, and i can go to other town to become one, but i don't feel like i want to leave my family here. Now i just further my study for another 2 years so that i can get into academic line and suit myself with the job market in my own place. Hopefully i made the right decision this time. Sigh..

Sometimes you just take life as it comes. Right now if you happy with what you are doing or how your life is, then why worry yourself. Many people ask questions like, what is your ambition or what is your goal. What they don't understand is that the basic goal of any human is to be happy. You need not have a particular goal to happy.

It took me awhile to learn Just that. I thought since I didn't have a "goal" I was a failure. Now I know I had a goal,it was to be happy. For today I am.

Recently since the economy has gone bad and i have been unemployed for seven months and i will be getting my AA degree next week i have been thinking about what i need to do with my life and how can i further my life by getting an income. I have thought about insurance sales then i think well maybe a dance teacher since i have always wanted to be that, but in the back of your head its like you don't really want to work and you want to keep doing what your doing and earning a little bit of income through the online working environment. I hope to be able by the end of this year get a good full time job that i love and enjoy.

It's a good discussion here. When i was in primary school, and the teachers ask us what we want to be when we grow up, it's very rare for us to say 'don't know'. I don't know, maybe the environment here is different than your country. Most of us will wish for a job like scientist, lawyer, engineer, doctor, which all sounds very cool and professional. That time, i think none of us really know that you need to be very genius to become a scientist. The moderate one might answer a teacher or nurse. It's always be a lawyer or an engineer or architect in my scope of ambition. I'm an above average student, but not the genius one, so i made it to get a degree in engineering. I graduated last year, and then started to realize that to become an engineer is not a piece of cake. At least for me. You really work like hell, and it's so tired, and a take lot of big responsibilities. I'm a responsible person, but i don't think that i can cope with all the field project responsibilities. I think I'm looking for a job that has more free time and less big responsibilities. So now i change my path and doing my master, hopefully that i can be a lecturer, and have more time for myself and family. Am i responding too descriptive here? haha =) Cheers.. happy mylotting

I wasn't brought up to just say anything to a question so I would say I don't know when it was the truth. I wasn't and still am not a good liar.In elementary school I didn't know about anty professions so I wouldn't been able to just say anything anyway.

Sometimes, when life give and take lemons to me, I try to take it in my stride. Over the years, I think I've become more stronger and focused in mental and in health too. I think there's nothing more important than the wealth of health. When I'm healthy, I'm happy and I could focus and do things that I love. I've always been someone interested in different kinds of hobbies. And to be able to work with a hobby would be great. I'm gearing up to that. I'm saving enough money and once I have enough, my dream would be to open up a business or venture into something that is hobby-related. However, if I don't get to open a business, I'll stick with a job that could enable me to stick close to what I love doing, or giving me the desired time to do it.

maybe i do not know the exact answer but at least one of the most important things we have to do in this world is just asking what we shou do with my life? like you just did right now, when you first asked youself this question you surely had nothing to anawer but when you finally get aged you will know something deeper but then you cant do anything to save your life,i think so

I think I asked me many times about what I should do in my life, especially I moved to the UK and started my new life. I need to think seriously about my future. I prefer to be a writer or translator. However I’m not confident with my English language skills. I feel a little difficult to make living by using a foreign language. So I think I maybe better to go university to study English subject for one or two years. It would mean a big cost, so now I wish I can make some money then maybe next year I can afford the fee of college study.

I think English is one of the hardest languages to learn .so once you can learn it,you can learn all the others. It will be hard but if you Really want to be a translator,go for it.Follow your bliss.Life is too short to be stuck doing something you really don't like.
