What are the MacMakeup essentials?

I want to try out some Mac makeup products but not sure what to start with! What's the best mascara that they have? What about lipstick? Foundation? I want to purchase one product at a time.. just to see if I'm digging it and to save money :)

If I were you, I would stay away from Mac foundations. From my experience, they are thick and cakey, and made me break out like crazy. I own quite a few Mac products, so I would definitely recommend their eyeshadows. They are super pigmented so it lasts forever. It takes me almost a year to finish a single eyeshadow, and I wear shadows everyday. They also have great blushes- the powder formula is my favorite. As far as the lipsticks, they are pretty good too- try the viva glam collection. They are generally universally flattering and the proceeds go to a good cause. I'd stay away from the lipglass...they are thick, glue like in texture, and doesn't last that long. Revlon glosses are much better quality in my opinion.
