In real life I dont expect to hear any creaking of the door when the burglar enters, and most certainly no sound when he walks inside slowly. But in movies, they add music there. Do u think it makes sense? If not, do u think u would like to watch a movie without such music? Do u think u can watch horror movie without sound? Would u be as scared, or would u be as thrilled? Please let me know ur views on this.

Of course, a movies no matter how great, if their is music it never leaves a lasting impression and marks on the mind of the moviegoers. Such as in the movies Titanic, the every time I heard the song of Celine Dion, I remember the movies. Such as the music background in in Mission Impossible, all James Bond movies, Superman and other movies. You could remember then not only through the story, the character such as the actors and actresses, the places but with the music..You know the music gets you excited or rush in when you watch scenes, or makes your hearts pounding as in suspense and horror movies, makes you sad or cry in dramas, and even makes you laugh in giggles with the music sing by the heartthrob actors or the pretty lady makes you drool, as the music is play on the background. Music signifies life in all aspects..

Background music utter importance in film industry. without this music picture can not be complete. Even when there ws dumb movie that time also you can see background music was there. See charlie chaplin. In horror films you cant feel that fear without music, you will not get happy when there is happy scene.

no sound makes scene perfect and natural with feelings. without sound it feels like the olden days are back where there where no sounds given in the back ground. I feel it adds flavour and colour to the scene. especially in the horor movies , the scary sounds are very important to make the scene go creepy and full of feeling . without those scary and creepy sounds, i dont think one will get scared or frightened so these music are important in many scences.

I am agreeable to everything u have written here. I just wish it was correlated with some practical examples. The reason is there are several answers in the same category. So I need to check the answer that covers more ground. I am really sorry I have not given BR here, though it deserves it. :( Hope u understood why it went to the post next to u. :-) and forgive me for it. Thank u for responding. :-) Have a nice day. :-)

I think that the music it makes that feeling , when you are expecting to see something ,and the sound will "tell" you earlier what will happen , or it will accentuate the situation . The music i think it`s about 40% from the success of the film . Without a great background, the movie will not be so great . Music in films it`s the most important in horror movies .

I too think that. We associate some of those feelings with certain notes played in some sequence. We expect something bad to happen when that note is played, and our mind conjures up worse image than it actually is. Even though the images presented before us are not as horrifying, the special effects rendered by our mind does make them seem more ominous. This is what I thought and I still need to confirm. Thanks for responding to this. Have a great day. :-)

adding background music makes a movie scarier and thrilling.without sounds, the movie is boring.it can stimulate our sense of sound that will make us sit up and watch the movie more intently.background music can make us feel scared.

I agree. Did u ever try watching without the soundtrack. Horror movies must look like children's cartoon network. :-) Thanks for responding. :-)

There's a difference between sound effect and music. The fact is that most doors squeak, light footsteps are made, and pants legs shuffle together. I've never really understood the use of music to heighten one's awareness, understanding, or fright during a film under most circumstances. Sometimes I feel it can add to a film just as easily or as much as it can subtract. In a horror movie, I don't think that the music affects me either way, there or not.

As I was mentioning in the previous post, I wanted to watch psycho with and without back ground music and sound effect. May be even some horror movie. And check whether we do react to it. I will try this someday. :-) Thanks for responding. :-)

Definitely. It adds to the suspence, in my opinion!

I thought so too. I always wanted to watch psycho without that music. I wanted to check my blood pressure and record my heart beats while I watch the movie with and without that music. Well, something we can never really get a clear picture of, can v?

I think background musis sets the mood of a scene. Not that I feel every movies I've seen has made the right choices in the area. Though when your watching a heartfelt moment between two people and you'r hearing the background music during this moment it can heighten the feeling of the scene I think. Just like when watching a horror movie, the right soundtrack can make you sit on the edge of your seat, right to the point where he jumps out and the music adds to the effect, hoping to make you jump out of your socks. Haha. I my opinion the soundtrack to a movie is hit or miss, some pick the right sound and add to the film experience, some have no effect, and others are just wrong and take away from what the scene is trying to put across.
