Origin of Yoga can be traced back to the time called 'Sat Yuga' or Golden Age associated with the wonder land called the "Indus Vally Civilization--Bharat--India" what we know now in an incomplete form. It's a inter-relationship between body and mind, which was developed in India about 5,000 years ago.In order to ensure peace of mind and physical well being, a formulated approach;maintaining the balance;whereby combining all the movements with various breathing and meditation techniques. In Sanskrit language YOGA means "UNION" i.e. the bonding between mind, body and spirit. The heightened self-understanding gave birth to this system of physical and mental exercise.Yoga can be divided into four main periods: the pre-classical period, classical period,post-classical period and modern period. The Yoga which could easily be traced back in the scriptures of the Vedas and Upanishads, that's the life the Maha-Hrishises used to live during those by gone era in India,Rig Veda, the oldest sacred texts,in which for the first time the word "Yoga" was mentioned and hence it could easily be assessed that how old and how deep rooted it was with the Indus valley civilization. One of the most famous scriptures is the Bhagavad Gita which was composed around 500 B.C. The Upanishads took the idea of ritual sacrifice from the Vedas and modified it. The Vedic priests mainly believe in teaching the sacrifice of the ego through self-knowledge,action (karma yoga) and wisdom (jnana yoga).Patanjali's yoga sutras the first systematic presentation of yoga, which latter on was modified and created into a seperate system to rejuvenate the body and life. With various cleanse techniques of the body and mind further led to the creation of Hatha Yoga.Shri Krishnamacharya opened the first Hatha Yoga school. This Hatha Yoga has various different school of thoughts and forms, therefore has the various way of practice. Indra Devi opened her yoga studio in Hollywood in the year1947.Since then,it got popularized and gaining millions of followers all over the world.Pranayama/Breathing is like life--or the other way round. The then Hrishis(hermits), of the then era, just knew the very fact, that what is the co-relations in-between or the big mportance about the connection between breath and mind.In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna that one should practice Yoga to purify himself. It's an open truth or open solution to each of the problem (that we are facing today) is been gifted to the whole of mankind, from the womb of our history that once existed, now its our responsibility that how do we make a good use of it.One element is worth mentioning is that " that it would be very difficult toseperate between or in other words drawing a distinction between the then civilization--yoga--Bhagavad Gita--The whole of Huinduism--Indus as a whole", one cannot draw a line or seperate one from the other. On the other hand it's just like a drop of water in the vast ocean of knowledge;in order to understand each of the elements seperately, which are mentioned above, but interestingly everyone is invited and no one is denied for the quest to understand/for benifit by means of Yoga from the whole of world wide web.
