How many people around the world think that a daughter is gift of god or a curse? I have to ask this because in some asian countries people having daughters think in the same way and give boy child more importance. Even after globalization there are some countries where daughters are killed before they are born as during the marriage they have to pay lot of money to the grooms family.

A daughter, of course, is a gift by the God. So keep in mind this. The kids are everything for every person. We must continue helping them while they are growing.

No offense, but to ME, all kids are a curse. I suppose I think that way because I just don't like kids and don't ever want any of my own. I don't like being around them either, but there's not really anything I can do about that, unfortunately. Of course, I'm not saying that all kids are a curse, but it would be a curse to me if I ever got pregnant.

All children, whether male or female, are gifts from God. Birth is always a miracle. I am truly blessed in that I have two sons and two daughters. But with each pregnancy, it did not matter to me in the least what gender my child was. The only thing I prayed for was that each child would be healthy. I think that it is horrible that other cultures will put a preference on gender. I don't understand it. As far as the families having to pay the groom's family a lot of money if they have a daughter, well, that is just wrong. For one thing, it is the man's reproductive half that decides what gender the child will be....not the woman's. So, shouldn't the groom's family be paying the bride's? Everyone throughout history has always been so quick to blame the women. It makes no sense to me. We are all equal. I am a mother of 4. And in my family, I am the one who brings home all of the money...not my husband. Yes, he contributes, but I have a college education where he does not, and therefore I make more. Neither one of us is the better person. I think that it is past time for a change. People need to realize that this is the year 2009, and it takes both men and women to make the world productive.

My daughter is the greatest blessing that I've ever had. In her I see reflections of myself and I see where I want her to go with her life. I always said that I wanted to have a son first, but since I got my daughter first I couldn't imagine it any other way. It is awful that some socities feel the way that they do about daughters because in this day and age, there is nothing that a son is better for than a daughter, they are equally important. Besides, without women, the human race wouldn't be able to continue.
