Do You Buy Things In Foreign Countries That You Can't Buy At Home?

Canada

Last week I attended one of my best friends' birthdays, in Toledo Ohio. Three of them live in the USA (Michigan, Ohio, and Maryland) and I live in Ontario Canada. Brenda celebrated her birthday last weekend, and we all decided to find a way to make it to her party. Everything was wonderful, and we had a great time. Brenda was totally surprised that I was there. Melanie and Robyn were in on the secret, but we didn't tell Brenda. We wanted to totally surprise her. Anyway, while I was down there I got some things at the pharmacy that we don't have in Canada (a couple of rubs for sore muscles, and scars, and a case of Milky Way chocolate bars). If I was going all the way to the States, I wanted to get some stuff to take home that I could not get in Canada. I also took some Coffee Crisp bars (a Canadian favourite) with me down there, and some real Canadian maple syrup. Everyone loved them. When you travel, do you make a point to buy things in certain countries that you can not get at home? Where do you go? What do you buy? When at home, what do you take to foreign countries, that they may not have there?

Yes. I have done this at least one time before. I could not find what I was looking for in the United States but found it from another country, so I ordered it and even got free shipping too.

I love the fact that we can shop all over the world, even if we do not travel, if we use a catalog.

When I travel different countries I like to purchase a costume doll. Over the years I have built up a lovely collection of costume dolls from around the world. I got a sweet looking wooden doll in Romania. On my last trip I got some South African dolls that have superb colorful bead detail. I also like to buy postcards for my collection. I enjoy collecting coin and notes for my foreign currency collection. I got a three dollar note and a triangular coin in the Cook Islands which I treasure. Maple syrup is delicious and I look forward to bringing so home when I do visit Canada which will hopefully be next summer.

Usually I buy some type of pastry that we don't have in the U.S. or native decorative items for the house since I love to be different in regards to interior decoration.

Oh definitely. I love shopping in other countries especially for things that you can't find locally. I usually buy clothes, jewelry, postcards, trying foreign foods, etc.

I don't think I'm that close to borders that I can buy something and then bring it back home. I do live in Houston, TX now so we may venture into Mexico and buy some stuff and bring it back. That's about as close as it comes to that idea. I did exchange some American money for Canadian money when I was in Canada about 30 years ago. I was on a Boy Scout trip and we went to Canada, it was pretty cool.

I've only ever been to Canada and it was late in the evening and I didn't stay long. Needless to say there was no shopping involved lol But, when I travel within the US there are things that I can't get in Ohio so I pick them up, it's normally food that is special to that area. I can't believe that you don't have Milky Way in Canada, it's about the only candy that I actually like.

I Don't Travel Much - I Do Pick Up what's Not Available In My Country ..
I Am Not A Regular Traveler .. I Don't Get A Chance to buy .. But When Ever I Travel I Buy things That Place is Famous For .. In Our Country If you Really Search the Whole City Or wherever You Are In You Do Get All that you Want Legally Or Illegally .. LoL ..

No, I never buy anything in foreign countries as I can buy the things that I want from my own country. And also, I don't have friends in other counties.
