What dish does your child like?

Last time when my kids were young, they were very particular about food, fussy is the word. But if they like that particular dish, I can cook it every now and then, they will be most happy to eat it, but if they dont like the dishes i cook, they end up drinking milk and biscuits instead of taking rice. My kids' favorite dish is potato chicken... How about your kids?

Me and my siblings eat anything, any dish prepared by our mother. My sisters love to eat vegetables no matter the taste is. Our youngest six years old sometimes complaint when there is not vegetables in the table. We really love any dish, any recipe with vegetables.

Hi reanaclaire, fussy and children do spring up in the same sentence somehow. I quite often have to take a basic thing and prepare it two ways to get my son to eat it. He loves salads but it's got to be plain, no dressing at all, so I have to prepare his separately. He loves all vegetables except garlic and onions, and all fruits. But when I make a big pan of casserole I have to lift the meat, veg and potatoes out of the sauce as he won't eat that bit. He also won't try things like curries so when I'm planning a quick curry with leftover chicken he wants plain chicken, rice and veg, whilst I curry mine up. But any roast meat or chicken he'll eat and love, and my winter dishes too, like lasagne and mousakkas.

yes..true true...sometimes we need to be creative, to cook the way they want it.. that is the tasks of us mothers.. lol.. each day i wake up, i have this problem ahead..ie. what to cook today for my kids. If there is no solution, we will just go out to grab something back, that is the easiest...

Hi Reana, Welcome to myLot! I have 2 kids and both are very picky when it comes to food. Their staple food is spaghetti, particularly my older son, he likes spaghetti so much. My younger son likes it too but he's not so ga-ga over it as compared to my older son. They both like soup, they can eat rice with soup, but they don't like meat, or chicken, so up until now I still can't get them to eat nutritious foods like veggies, fish and chicken and meat.

I guess when our kids are young, they will be very picky, but once they grow up to their teens, their knowledge has widened and they know what is good and bad. So when they do, they will take a balanced diet, ie with both meat and vege.. hahhaa.. that is my opinion. My boys in college now take vege more, firstly bec they want to save, 2ndly, they said eat more vege, pimples will go off...

Hi reanaclaire, I am a lucky mother,my little son is not a picky eater and he likes to eat green vegetables especially long bean. Apart from vegetables, my son also like to eat fried chicken, french fries, soya sauce chicken with potatoes. So far, I never encounter any problem in cooking for my son. He can eat whatever food that I cook except spicy food. I always try to cook diferent kind of dishes for my son to try. Since he is still young, let him try more varieties. Sometimes, I even searched for some recipes online and try it out on my own version.

My children like to eat anything with cheese in it. They do not like sphegetti or vegegatable. What child likes vegetables. If I want them to eat it they I would add some cheese to it. They also like eating anything with ketchup on it. Sometimes they will just eat the ketchup and the cheese. As for fruits they all like that. Their favorite would be banana. Oh and don't forget the junk food. I think their first word was cookie.

Hi reanaclaire! My BabyMaine loves veggies, fruits and bread. Anytime she is cranky, I will show her some bread and she will be beaming. As for fruits and veggies, she'll squeeze them between her gums to get the juices out. It is really joyful to watch her. And I really hope she will continue to love veggies and fruits when she's older. :)

hello Reanaclaire, Same thing happen here . My two kids are so choosy when come to eating. They both are poles in the sense that elder one is a meat lover and the younger one just like vegetables. For my daughter, once I cook her favorite dish like chicken chop , braised pork and fried chicken, then she can have eaten a bowl of rice with the meat. If I cook something that she is not fancy, she will just puke out what I feed her. For my son, as long as I feed every spoon of rice goes with some vege on it, he can then wallop every spoonful by every spoonful. It is so different when comes to cook dishes for kids. Always we need to think of what is good for them to eat.

reanaclaire.. I don't have a child that fussy yet (and I hope I don't).. but I have a fussy brother who don't simply eat what I cook.. he don't really have a favourite food.. but all food with fry will be nice to him.. but he wanted the fry to be 'clean'.. nothing additional to it.. fussy right!! So, in my house, either we fry fish, fry chicken, fry everything but no gravy, no sauce ya.. and potatoes, I love it to cook with soup!
