Do you still install and use many screensavers in your computer?

Currently, my computer has the default windows screensavers installed but I only use a screensaver with an inspirational theme. I don't like many screensavers installed in my computer because I have found out that they heavily use the system resources and memory that's why my computer slows down.

No.I am not using any screen savers as the screen savers high resolutions desktop themes uses our computer resources more and the performance of the systems will slow down. Also most of the screen savers available in the net are bundled with some spy ware programs and virus and this may create additional problems in our systems.I am having just a blank screen only in all of my systems.

I fully agree with you. Screensavers tend to slow down PC performance and many of them have malicious code attached to the installer so when you install the screensavers, chances are, your computer might get infected with spywares and malwares.

I install a new screen saver for every festival during the festival time.It perks up my festival spirit as well as those around me when they watch it..Like during Diwali in India ,the festival of lights in October month,I install the screensaver with lovely lamps, then in christmas its the lovely christmas screen savers etc...For Daily use,I have my own customized screensaver which I made myself,so it doesnt occupy a lot of space in my PC

It's good to hear that you have your own screensaver created. It is much better than downloading screensaver from an unknown source.

I fully agree with you. Installing freeware screensavers just reduces the overall performance of the system. It creates the problem of halting, running slow and low memory. Screensavers are meant for new comers and kids. What we will get by installing new screensavers. It will not going to effect our working performance but will definitely effect the computer performance and make is slow.

Yes, kids really love animated screensavers. Aside from it, spyware and malware maker also use animated screensavers to install spyware in the computer.

yes what you said is absolutely right......also if you have the habit of downloading screensavers from the internet then you should be extra careful as most of the spyware and malware come through screensavers.......so I don't really use screen savers, I feel my windows 7 default screen savers are good enough to save power.......

What you say is true. Before, when I was still using windows 98, I had a habit of downloading screensavers of my choice (being not yet aware of spywares and malware). But when I had installed these screensavers, my computer suddenly slowed down. And I have realized later that spyware and malware makers use animated screensavers that captivate the eye to install spywares. I really learned a lesson from it.

Hi levite, I was install many screen saver on my computer for years ago, but now I don't do that, because I think it will make my computer work harder and It just waste the resource of my computer. Now I never take a care to my computer theme/design, I just take care to the performance, because that now I use windows 98 theme on my computer that use XP OS, I think it will make our computer run faster and can done the task better. How about you all?

So you still use windows 98 themes in windows xp OS, well I just use the default windows xp theme. previously I used a program called style xp to change windows xp themes to vista, apple, linux, etc., but it tends to slow down system performance too so I no longer use it now.

Yeah, I still use windows 98 theme for my laptop . I think that is better to boost my computer's performance. It will give a positive effect to my computer. And I think the windows 98 theme is not too bad.

I use to use this screen saver program that shuffles through some pictures I had of a particular folder. But now, I use whatever screen savers are already on my computer. I realized that I would never really see the screen saver, at least not long enough to appreciate it. I mean, if it's on, it means I've been away from the computer a while. And I'm not about to leave the computer on while I'm not using it, just so I could see it. So, for me, I didn't really see a point of having any other screen saver that's just gonna take up space on my computer.

I do not install now any extra screensaver aside from what is already there. I did it before but not anymore. But I still set a screen saver to run after a period of inactivity and its just the screen blanker "Blank" to save on system resources, any way I have grown a habit of turning my monitor off if I would leave it for a while.

i think installing extra screen saver is a good one it makes your personal computer really personal:) well boost up your spirit is one of the effect (my eyes will start blurry watching the same screen saver:D) well about the low performance, memory low, etc, it depends on your PC i guess, but i always maintain my PC well that is nothing bad with the extra screensaver

Yes, but we must be careful about installing screensavers especially from an unknown source because there is a possibility of malicious code attached to the screensaver installer which might damage your computer when installed. I had previously installed screensaver in my old PC but something went wrong with my PC after installing it. The PC suddenly ran slowly and later, when I scanned the PC, spywares and malware were found. So I just uninstalled the screensaver.
