Future weapons in discovery channel, they are showcasing the latest technology weapons to fight against terrorists and violent militants, do you think we should really spend so much of money and resources to develop weapons of mass destruction to "guard" ourselves with, i mean who will assure those weapons will someday not fall into the wrong hands, i guess we are creating our own destruction, don't you think... those weapons are not going to stay on the safe side for long, information leaks and there are "internal agents" who sometime out of greed might sell some of those to the wrong people, take the nuclear weapons now, as the people from discovery channel say we have as much nukes in this world to destroy our planet for 15 complete times!, it would have been a lot better if on the first place weapons would not have been created, now it looks like we can't stop creating such weapons, how nice would it have been if mankind would have spent it's resources and money in creating something that could actually have benefited us... what do you people have to say?

What are weapons for, when we humans themselves are weapons in every phase. They have created so many deadly missiles and nuclear kind of arms and weaponry system which are of no use rather than to kill and create havoc everywhere, can't we solve disputes over nations regarding boundaries and all sorts of unwanted egos. Weapons have never served us well rather than being showcased for our delight during the national day parades and all.The nations engage in ware fares without proper understanding I guess,a lot patience is needed to make compromises among countries over any matter.Better facilities must be provide ,by the money i.e is being lost for making and importing weapons for defense. When no war must be created by human kind, then why this, simple waste of so many billions, there are around quarter of this globe filled with people starving for one time meal a day,but who cares, right.

Yeah tintukm, it's so sad to see the world is this way when the government is spending more on arms rather than the welfare of it's common citizens, humans are so greedy you see, we are not at all satisfied with what we have, we have made all kinds of weapons and all to defend us against each other, who knows one day we might start the war ourselves, weapons can only destroy and do not bring peace, if it does bring peace it brings it at the expense of loss to some other party... violence to fight violence is what we humans have learned from each other, we fight so easily and it's so difficult for us to accept our mistakes, we search for mistakes in others and not see our own...we can only hope for a better future i guess... . . . thanks for sharing tintukm and have a nice day!

yeah in fact if somehow the government stops making more weapons the public sector will create a pressure on the government to not stop making weapons.

Money nowadays keep on flowing especially for the defense, right.Else what can be done too, government says if they aren't competing themselves with other countries then there won't be any dignity for their country.

Hi, The way innocent people are being killed by militants and violence it is better there were sophisticated weapon to guard ourselves. That they could go to the wrong is future possibility. Is not it? Look for the nuke bomb. Were not two cities destroyed and the effect is still not gone? But we are armed with those lethal weapon. similarly thee should be policy so that all those weapons be handed over after th combing operation is over.

that is the worst part of this world, you can not trust everyone here.... now look what the world is coming to, in some cases the near and dear ones are the ones who stand against us, we can all just hope to live in peace and harmony!

hmm yeah if there were such a policy where they could keep the weapons back to the stronghold which could be trusted then i guess it could be alright, but then still we are not 100% sure of things, we would always have to be extra careful, there could be a lot happening inside and that needs to be checked .... if only violence could be avoided somehow.... thanks for sharing and have a good day!

Unfortunately the American nation is on a treadmill if they do not continue to advance weaponry they would probably be overwhelmed. The advance in weaponry To the Russians at the stand off. Also jeering the second world war the advantage in being able to reduce many weapons led to the downfall of the axis nations, otherwise we might all be speaking Japanese or German today. The other side of the coin is it seems that the more weapons are produced more temptation there is to use them. Americans seems to have been at war with almost every nation on the earth at one time or another in their history. They started with their Indian nations, Canada and England, Mexico, Spain, Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, the list goes on. They presently have Cold War relations with Cuba, Iran, North Korea. The only other alternative is to become isolationist and let the world solve its own squabbles, and I do not know if this is a good choice. If the Western world does not invent these weapons possibly somebody else would and we would be defenseless against them.

You are very right mariposaman, if we don't create them, someone else would, that is the sad truth and in order to tackle that situation we are building weapons, well now certainly we also have the nuclear power, one of the worst!.... if only we learn how to deal with neighbouring countries and countries which we were up against several years ago, only then can we be assured of safety and peace... now everything relies on trust and friendship, we can all hope and pray for us to leave in a peaceful world coz some say if there is a 3rd World war then we are goners, the world could end in a armageddon!.... we can't stop researching newer weapons and all, it's already centuries late for that, we can only hope to live as a peaceful world.... thanks for sharing mariposaman and have a good day!

greed can take many unimaginable forms. weapons is a huge business (perhaps the biggest business in the world) where else could you sell a piece of metal not worth a few dollars for millions? fear is created amongst nations to force them to buy weapons. and in a quest of 'my weapons are better than yours' - the mad rat race continues. hence the interest is in the problem itself and not solving the problem. developers and manufacturers of weapons are limited to a few countries and they supply to the entire world legally or illegally. so unless 'they' have the 'weapons' to attack us, how would we spend billions in defending ourselves. millions are being sacrificed so that a few can mint money - welcome to the real world...

yeah sunny it is true, we are only creating weapons to fight against weapons and the ones who are actually getting benefited are the guys who are manufacturing them, some are under the government and some underground, hope the nuclear technology is not all out for the terrorists to have their hands on them, it would be so ugly and bad... i have to agree that the manufacturing of weapons is the one the most biggest business running in the world, we might not know but many things keep happening underground.... thanks for sharing and have a nice day sunny!

I think that we are acctually leaking way to much infromation to the terriost and so on because we are showing them on purpose what the newest weapon or explosive is so they know how to avoid it and how to stop it or so on so forth and they may not think about it but the terriosts watch satillelite tv just the same as we do and they use shows like that to know whats going on in the nato countries. and also i really do think they could make better items then weapons of mass destruction but sad to say is that if humans didn't make weapons of mass destruction for war we wouldn't be on mylot now talking as it was the weapons and intelligence races of WWII that made computers possible because the first computer was made during WWII to compile infromation and break codes for the allies and if WWI and WWII hadn't happened we wouldn't be able to go all the way from Canada to China in only what 1 day at the most it would take months just to get to the coast let alone all the weeks to get to hong kong or whatever by either foot or donkey or whatever animal or cart or whatever you have. So weapons of mass destruction may not be our favourite things but without them we would still be genarations behind where we are right now.

yeah bonez you are right, even the internet that we use today was actually once created to pass secret information for war, and it then later changed form and they modified it for us people to use, it's unfortunate we had to learn some things the hard way, but then i guess this world is like that, sometimes we have to learn things the bad way, we can't blame anyone for it... yeah we are greedy and as always we will never be satisfied i think, the only positive thing that we posses is love and we should love all our fellow human beings, i guess that is the only solution we are left with to avoid ourselves from getting into another world war.... thank you for sharing, i appreciate your effort put in, have a nice time here at mylot!

Also i forgot to say that our enemies believe it or not already have the blueprints and the ablility to get the meterails to build nuclear bombs and almost anything we have and can build. they can build or make it just might take them longer then it takes us because they don't have factories speacialy for building jets or so on so forth but the human race is a greedy race and we want more then we could ever have. If you can find one human who is completely content and dosen't want one single item at all and i can meet with them i will pay both of you $500 000 dollars even if it takes me the rest of my life to earn that much money.

I agree that the weapons falling in wrong hands will end up harming us more and giving out information like this is not advisable when so many terrorist organizations are looking forward and are willing to spend an indecent amount of money on getting advanced weapons 'but' (yes there is a but) I have to point this out that these terrorists, or Somali pirates as someone mentioned above, already have weapons which were once legally sanctioned by some countries government. In the ideal world, it would have been perfect if we can say 'lets stop building weapons' and it happens, but here, every country is involved in an arms race. Building better weapons is bad, no doubt, but we cannot do without them either. For example, having mentioned the unsocial elements like terrorists and pirates have cutting edge technology in weaponry and an arsenal-money stash large enough to cause trouble for as long as they way, we actually do not have any other choice to either stay a step ahead of them. That being said, i would have preferred if it indeed was the ideal world and the money used for development of weapons of mass destruction could have been used to develop alternate sources of energy, more jobs or better infrastructure, health care, epidemic-pandemic preventive research etc.

Hey xzcess that was so well said, i appreciate it, what you said is absolutely true and there is nothing we can much do about it now, others are making weapons and to counter them we make more weapons, this really can't be stopped, we have to be careful at this, coz one small spark can now trigger the whole chain reaction and it could be so ugly to see everybody at war! we have to maintain what ever we can, have nice diplomatic relationships with other neighbouring countries and the countries with which we were once at war with, now nothing is left but trust, we have to gain other's trust and let them trust us, only then we can be certain things don't go bad... we have created a lot of weapons, enough to destroy this planet over and over again, it's really so sad to think that instead of those many weaponry and all we could have invested our money and resources more towards something more constructive but nothing can be done now, we all have to live in peace and harmony and gain each other's trust. . . . thanks for sharing your opinions, i was glad to go through it, any yeah i don't at all mind the grammatical errors as long as i can make things out of it . . . have a nice day!

I agree with you. Creating advanced weaponry would only hasten our doom. Yes it's true, we are creating advanced weapons to guard us, but it can also be used against us. Instead of creating advanced weaponry, we should focus in creating advanced technology that can protect us from natural disaster, or feed the hungry, and stuff like that.

yeah i agree with you, but it looks inevitable now, we can't stop it, if anything we could have done, we could have done it at the earliest i guess... hmm we are trying to study the causes of natural disasters, that is all we are doing now i think... thanks for sharing and have a nice day!

they should have never shown that kind of weapons on television or terrorist might get eager to buy hi-tech weapons too. look at the somalia pirates, they don't just have forks and showels but advance weaponry and communication devices that captures people on their boats in their territory.

Developing new advance weapons should never be promoted or encouraged even for defensive programs because if by mistake that weapons falls in the hands of our enemies its the end of the world. We cannot be sure that they won't lay their hands on them because one greedy officer at a higher rank is enough to slip the blueprints. already there has been threat of biological weapons in n.korea and iran etc.even though US develops a big weapon and if it falls in wrong hand we are doomed.so production and advancements in weapons should be stopped

It is indeed a sad world we live in. Why are we still building weapons. We need to try and promote peace and not war. I do agree all these weapons are going to get into the hands of the wrong people. The people will use the weapons for distruction of the world. I wonder if they can really deal with killing of all mankind. They will self distruct until there is nothing else in the world. Happy lotting.

yeah this is the world right now, weapons for enemies and enemies who? us humans ourselves, we are using weapons to fight agains other weapons, i don't think we can do anything more to help it... we are creating a modified version of M4A1 to tackle terrorist's AK-47... and don't know if one day we again start using the nukes, certainly not the way we want this planet to end, with a nuclear holocaust! . . thanks for sharing, have a nice day!
