Hello monica, Yes, I love making jokes. At least the environment wont be so stressed out. Somehow, I reserved the 'heavy issue' joke to people whom I really know well. I dont want to offend anyone with my jokes. Sometimes, some people tend to get too carried away whilst joking and that really put everyone else in a tight position. Joking is meant to be fun, not to criticise.. :)

I guess this is where teasing and joking aren't far apart... One can be funny and the other can be very hurtful! It is important to make sure that the joke doesn't become personal or aimed at one person. Many people often take a joke too far and then wonder why someone is upset... The one I see sometimes is something nasty said in a jokey way in an e-mail with the text LOL behind, as if that makes everything OK again... Anyone else seen this and what do you think?

I just hate it when someone text me something cruel and end it with "It's a joke" or "LOL". It's like they are trying to tell me something, but trying to be discreet. If they have something to say, just say it to my face and not use joke as a cover up. Don't you think so?

My team loves making and telling jokes because just like in your workplace, it cheers people up and relieve stress. We need a bit of fun and laughter just to lighten the load, if you know what I'm saying. And it's also good that the people I tell jokes with don't easily get offended. I guess it's because we're a tight-knit group so we understand each other. Those who get offended just don't know how to take a joke. :D

I guess it also depends on what kind of joke you're throwing at another person. As long as it isn't offensive and the other party is willing to play along, then that's cool.

That's certainly a good point... In my school the staff are very willing to take offence at any joke - be it from another adult or the students... I guess this is why we never joke and it is quite a dull place to work :o(

hi,moonchild,I think so,one who often feel offended by other joke seems an odd guy,he/she will not get on well with others, and would not be welcome by others.

Our staff often make jokes too. Well i seldom joke about others because i'm a quiet person and i don't speak much in the office. I would like to stay alone to get my things do . Sometimes i would listen to them but most of time i would rather do my own business. They joke a lot about everything . It's said that married women can talk everything and i find it to be true . Our staff are all married women and they make very funny and open jokes about each other or their family .

hi,grace,it is true that married women can talk everything which never made them shy.such as in my office the married women joke each other loudly though there are men beside, sometimes(although I got married too)I feel embarrassed for the topic they are talking about, but they never mind.
