I was brought up to pray before meals and I always do. Its thanking God for the food on the table. I also taught my kids the same thing but now I know my daughters only pray if we are having dinner together. I'm sure they don't pray at their places where they live.

I was brought up praying before meals too, but since I got married we don't - my husband doesn't seem to be bothered. I sometimes wish he would take up his role as spiritual head of the household a little more. But then, because I have now got out of the habit, I don't even pray quietly before the meal anymore, so thats my own fault!

we always pray before meals, thanking God of the food on the table for every meal and always. we don't do that after meals though. it might be worth mentioning too ... we all pray together the holy rosary every night. always, we need to thank God for everything that we are blessed to have, life most especially.

I don't always pray before and after meals but I know I should. I forget all the time because we didn't do it much when I was growing up. We did when we were having company, though. We always pray before potluck at church and whenever I go out to eat with friends from church. I'm glad you started this discussion. It's a reminder for me that I need to start practicing a good habit. Kathy.

We do that for each meal. It's essential to do that to thank God for the food and we still able to eat it while they are people in this world still hungry and suffering. We're lucky, that's why it's important to be thankful. I also teach my younger siblings to do the same.

I´m not a believer so I don´t usually pray. But I do believe in the power of prayer and respect the people who do it. I think the last time I prayed was when my grandson was dying. I recurred to the prayer from my childhood so that I could understand the words "Thy will be done". It helped me.

When I was still in school, I always do. Now, my family and I always forget. Maybe it's time to bring this good habit back. This discussion is a good reminder.Ü

Not really. My parents are catholic but we never prayed. I guess they should. I shouldn't, though, 'cause I'm an atheist.
