District 9? A Peter (LOTR) Jackson production,It's set in South Africa,Johannesburg,in what seems to be another timeline,as There's a Huge Alien Mothership hovering over the city since arriving nearly 30 years ago..The thousands of Inhabitants were found to be malnourished if not starving, and so began a Humanitarian venture to help the Aliens as their ship was in no position to go elsewhere,as it apparently was out of fuel..Helping them, then controlling them created temporary camps which became militarised and more permanent, and eventually a shanty city formed..District 9.The Movie deals partly with the treatment of what are regarded as second class people,Apartheid, and the exercise of Power by Authority.. A supervisor type assigned to oversee eviction proceedings to move the Aliens further from Jo'Burg finds himself the focus of a life altering event involving Alien Technology, and He discovers how quickly life changes..The movie is filmed in a realistic documentary style with realistic looking CG,handheld cameras, interviews, surveillance footage, and TV screen "breaking news" inserts....I liked it! How about You? If You don't like the idea, what turns you off it?

Thanks for the post..Would you be one of those people who'd go to a movie a number of times during its run at the cinema to catch anything that might have happened too quickly the first time around? I've never done this intentionally, but there have been a couple of Movies, including this one, where events that are significant can be quite "Blink and You miss it".. I'm thinking this movie might be worth a second look..

If go away for one or two minuts while this movie is running, it can be that you have missed an important part and you just won't get what is happening. It's kind of like I Am Legend where you don't know the complete story when it starts, and you are confused. District 9 starts like that and answers your question as the movie continuous. However not many people do get the movie, thats because the story is to complicated in the beginning. Don't think that the movie is bad because some people say, the movie is great. If you go watch it again, don't try to miss something by going to the bathroom, or i don't know maybe your out of popcorn Lol

I had to come back to this discussion again, partly as it's now been a Year since I posted the discussion, and partly because I've just recently bought the movie on DVD! It was worth buying to watch again..The Movie has been a Launching pad too for Sharlto Copley, the previously unknown actor who portrayed "Wikus Van der Merwe" here, and who has also stepped into the shoes of the "Murdock" Character in the Summer's recent "A-Team" Movie..

Yep,that South African Accent wasn't always the easiest to understand, but you definitely got the gist of what they were saying!
