Are you Scared in Getting Cancer?

I've been thinking of this topic today. And I was wondering how many people out there are scared in getting cancer. I've had lots of aunts and grandmother have breast cancer which scares me. My sister has had sometype of oval cancer. I just don't want to get it and I'm awfraid I may someday. Because if I get breast cancer I'm afraid that they'll have to remove one of my breasts so I'll look lopsided. Also what scares me is having termnal cancer meaning they can't get rid of it. I've been so nervous about this that I haven't gone for check ups of any kind in 3 years. Because I don't want to hear if I do. And the other part if I do I have no insurance and I don't want to leave that burden on my family. Because of the cost of treatments. What's your thoughts about this? Are you scared?

I'm no more afraid of cancer than I am of anything else that hasn't happened yet. I don't see the point..To be aware that it can happen? Yes but not to live in dread of something that, on the flip, may not happen at all. For the record, I have tendency towards cancer from my dad's side, heart disease from my mom. I'm 57 and neither has happened and I'll give neither meaning by expecting it to. ENJOY!

I have to admit that I am worried about getting cancer. And I'm even more worried about getting cancer and not making it, not winning the battle. It's really not something that I want to happen to me, or my loved-ones. Unfortunately, it's not the way that it goes. We aren't the ones who get to decide who gets cancer and who doesn't get cancer, or who survives it.

I understand that we don't choose this. And I understand that God only puts us thru what we can handle. And that everything happens for a reason. So I quess one should be worried or scared. Because if it happens than we should accept it and try fighting it and if we win there's a reason and if we dont' there's a reason as well.

i beat it twice, knock on wood. my parents had it, i had it, and my neice just finished a year of chemo and such and she beat it. you stated you havent had a checkup in 3 years and thats a no no no matter how scared you are the sooner you find it the better your chances of beating it are. they do wonders nowadays if caught early so get off your butt and get to the doctor. am i scared it will come back ...yes but thats life, again get to a doc. thats the problem with people they dont find the time or are scared and then its to late, so they squeeze ya a little, no big deal, i lost a kidney and you dont wanna know where they went to get a look.

I just have to overcome this scared feeling and like you said get off my butt and do it. It's just scary to me. I know that should be no excuse. And thank you for sharing your story. Now only if I can be as brave. The great part would be to go and find out I"m alright. And find out I was scared for no reason.

Ohh hell YES !!. I have not yet had it. But i had the scare of it. Skin cancer. Damn. Was scary . Took a lot of things to get it off me. but i guess it did work. well if you asking me if am scared it will happen again ? Well Ah yes !! I am. Who wouldn't be, but i guess thats life. We need to fight our fears , to stand up properly. I rather live 10 yrs of life with certainty of whats happening to me, rather than living 30 yrs of life in blindness of life. I guess you should get it checked.

I am not scared of getting cancer. I understand many people get cancer every year and at the same time many people do not get cancer every year. It is best not to worry about things of this nature; this includes any illness or severe disease that is theoretically possible to get. I would be upset if I do get a life threatening illness, but I can not worry about that now; I can only worry about it when/if I get it.

Looks like cancer does run in your family. GET THOSE CHECKUPS!!!!!! Cancer caught early has a much better ending. As we know, any problem ignored simply gets worse. Lots of people have beaten cancer. Most of these found it early.
