Nine pronounces the same as FOREVER in Chinese, so in our cities, it becomes a day for wedding registration, or wedding ceremonies. Parents even offered to quee overnight for their children, big smiles shining on their faces coming out of the office, and phototakings to make the event a lasting one. Did you happen to see such exciting moments.

Yeah, Most Chinese love number 9 as it is a good and lucky number symbols forever! I listen from the radio yesterday saying that many couple arrange to get marry on this special day, 09-09-09. And the DJ went over to the marriage registration hall and interview a few couples. 3 couples are actually born on this date as well and now they get married on the same day. I believe couple who choose to get marry on this special day will have a special memories for them. More ever they are patient enough to queue up for the registration. But I am so happy for all of them. Next year is going to have another special date, which is 10.10.10 Most Chinese will like this special date as number symbols perfect for everything! Happy Mylotting!

Hi Vingyan, I saw it on Prime News too, Malaysia and China, many couples tie the knot on this remarkable day 'everlasting love, forever' Last year was 08-08-08, this year is 09-09-09 and next year will be 10-10-10. Btw how about your wedding date, any significant date that you choose? Thanks and take care!

No, because in my culture we don't believe in such things as numbers and symbols. I don't know whether it's good or bad, or well, for me it's good because I don't put faith into something that isn't logic. But I guess I'm happy for you and people of China! Arigato :O

Yes, yesterday there are many people got married. My colleague also got married yesterday. 9 means "long lasting" in China. So the new couples have a good wish and expectation for their marriage. They hope this will bring them luck. Next year on October 10th, it will be the same because 10 means "perfect". It will be another wedding boom:) I love China

I guess next year will be a perfect 10 then? Like as in some sporting events, under older scoring... Hmmm I wonder if that's where the phrase came from...

Dear zhuhuifen, I saw it on Prime News 8:30 pm last night. They show China's registration office and some interviews with the newly wed couples. They showed the banner 'Everlasting Love ....Forever' 9-9-9 means FOREVER...you are right! They also have scenes from other countries...also of Chinese but I am not sure which other countries. All of them are so happy :) Thanks and Friends Forever....

Yes, it happens in Malaysia too. Dozens tie the knot on auspicious day- the ninth day of the ninth month of the ninth year. Some solemnised the occasion in traditional ceremonies at temples and and other places of worship. In Chinese tradition the number nine is associated with longevity, and it is believed that couples registering on this day will enjoy lasting happiness together.
