Bear her father's name? As in not change to your name? I am married. I still go by my maiden name. Our DD has my husband's name, but I opted not to legally change my name when I got married. I like my name. My parents obviously went to great lengths to pick it out for me and I felt it would be a slap in the face to change it. So I kept it. So I kept mine. In social settings, my DH will introduce me as his wife and introduce me as his last name, but I never legally took it nor do I plan on changing. He's not pissed or worried about it. I have no problem with it. Neither does he.

depending on the culture of the society if their law permit..a wife could choice between self or bearing her husband surnames as long as both feel not violated anything which been pre-arrange should be need to be discuss before attending to the final decision.
