Gus is again having issues of rectal bleeding

One or two of you might recall my discussion of buying clearance priced Pet Pride canned dog food and Gus having rectal bleeding and bloody stools. When I changed back to Purina One, it stopped. But not before I'd spent a couple hundred dollars on tests that came back negative for everything. Recently, I learned of the disgusting ingredient, "animal digest" which is ground up Humane Society euthanized animals and other animals. So when I saw Pet Pride's brand of Kibbles 'n Bits--which Gus loves--I bought it. Again, he had blood in his stool and rectal bleeding. He's on Purina One again, for the past four days. It's not as bad as before but still there. I guess it will take a little more time for whatever it is to be out of his system. Have any of you had anything like this happen with any dog food? It may be the breed? Gus is a Boston Terrier. Cookie, my rat terrier, has no such symptoms with the food. I hate feeding my dog food with "animal digest" but I can't afford the premium foods that don't have it. Any cheap recipes for homemade dog food that will fill a doggie up without breaking the bank?

I feed my dog most of what I eat now. She dosen't like most of the dog food and I had similar experiences with it making her sick. My dog likes veggies and I give her cooked meats and healthy food. My vet said most veggies are really good for them. I am picky and will not feed her euthanised animals. Ugh! That is moving towards a soylent green and people should boycott it. It would seem that just encourages the euthanizing of more helpless animals because there is money involved.

I know how you feel, I feel the same way. But something is upsetting his insides to the point of bleeding and he didn't have that problem with Purina One. Right now I can barely afford to feed myself, let alone provide human food for him--or can I? Do you spend a lot more or just a little when you feed your dog human food? Gus LOVES veggies, so does my other dog Cookie, they could happily eat them all day! Meat I'm not sure about, it's so expensive! Do you feed her rice or anything like that? Gus's vet says the same as yours about the vegetables. Gus likes fruit, too, unfortunately he can't have grapes or onions because they're poisonous to dogs but he loves them so much!
