Hi friends, I just today attend the test for getting the Learner's license for driving the 4 wheelers. I am going to attend the driving classes from tomorrow. Hope i will get the license soon.. It was a 20 day training class and only 5 days a week for 8 Kms a day.. Do you think it is enough to learn how to drive? When did you got your driving license? Did you get passed in your first attempt itself? How was your driving classes? Interesting or boring? How much time per day for your driving classes? Do you like driving? How long you drive in a single day? When did you bought your first vehicle? (I didnt got one still) Share, Have a nice day.

Good luck with that and I hope you would obtain your license soon. I can drive and I got my license a couple years back, somewhere near to the minimum age requirement. I think the lessons you will have is enough. Have a bit of confidence and go for it..

So, you think that the 20 days programme is enough.. Yes, it is confidence which make us learn faster and being easier.. Have a great day.

Don't worry, I think that's enough.. driving is like an art. If you have it in you, you'll only need a few lessons to be good at it. It's like playing a video game; once you get around the buttons and how to go about playing, the rest is history.

Yes, i feel little uneasy to play game when i start for the first time as i am messy with the controls. Later i feel so easy to control the game and get the high scores and beat it myself again and again..

Hi dbu, I passed my test when I was eighteen but they didn't teach things like how to drive on a motorway so that was a bit scarey the first few times. I can't remember back to the lessons but I know a friend gave me quite a few. I lived in a city and didn't drive at all for a few years as no point as it was more expensive to park it than use public transport. I drive all the time now but the longest I usualy drive in one go now is 2.5 hours. I had never driven down the mountain in the dark until last night, when I had to do the last 20 minutes of it and really had to brace myself as thought it would be scarey, its full of hair pin bends hanging over the sea and I hate it when the headlights are coming at me from the other direction and they are too busy on the phone to dip them, plus loads of them have those illegal double headlights. But I did it.

Thea, you must be a pretty awesome driver .. since 18, wow.. cool.. so that must be the minimum legal age..

Hi Thea, So, you got the training from your friend. Yes, it is so scary when we drive at the traffic. They are going to teach me in the Traffic only. So scary. Thankfully they too have their own brakes near their legs. Yes, it is more expensive than the public transport. I hate hairpin bends. Whenever i go in the transport and reach the hairpin bends i feel dizzy. Have a great day..

WOw!!! That's such a short period of time for u to get a license to drive!! hehe Over here, passing the test and getting the license will take at least 1 month, which is the fastest even for the best drivers.. haha =D Because we have a theory test to pass, before one is able to take practical lessons.. lol =D PLus, in the theory test, one is only allowed 3-5 mistakes, anything more, is considered failed.. haha =D When it comes to practical, there should be more than 10 practical lessons to go, including on the road too.. hehe ^_^ IT's very much harder to pass, and yet we have so many traffic accidents here too.. lol =D

Hi kun, Yes, there is Theory tests before attending the Practical classes here too. I just attended the Theory tests yesterday. It was just 10 questions and we have to give 6 correct answers to pass. 20 classes, 5 class per week. Calculate it.. Didn't you get nearly a month? All 20 classes are on the road. What about you? Do you know driving and having license? Have a great day.

Oh my goodness another danger on the roads soon I was involved in an accident when I was a passnger in a car at the age of 17. I was scared to get into another car after that and was advised to take driving lessons and learn to drive to overcome my fear. That is what I did. I had 10 lessons of half an hour and some theory and I passed first time That is then when I started learning to drive because I beleive that getting your license is only the beginning. Only after many miles can you begin to become an experienced driver. There are many different stuations on the roads and you cannot possibly become aware of them all just with a few lessons. I still cannot drive in the snow. As soon as it starts snowing I forget that I have a car. My friends and my son are aware of this so they take in turns to pick me up and take me to work during the snowy days when the roads are bad. I would be a danger to others so it is best I just leavethe driving to others in those conditions I'm sure you will be a careful driver and take of your passengers and will not be a danger to others on the road when you are driving. Am I right?

The problem with the snow is not the visibility, or lack of it, but the state of the roads. They can become a mess with frozen parts which are slippery and cause you to skid and the vehicle goes out of control and...

Hi mysdianait, OH! That looks terrible. I never met in the accident. Thank god! But i was slipped from the cycle for more than two times with lots of scratches in my body! Yes, the lessons are just to make us learn how to drive. Only the experience make us good driver. Driving at the snow time is little challenging as we cannot see things properly. This problem is not here as we don't have snow fall here anytime. Just little mist for sometimes but it won't be worser.. I will drive carefully. Don't worry. Have a great day.

I fear that I'll be in an accident or something, and that I will wreck the car... lol.. I still don't have enough money to buy myself a new car anyway .. .maybe when i earn more to buy myself a new car, then I could start to study how to drive.

I haven't learnt how to drive yet. I have driven a little bit, but that's been years. The DMV (department of Motor Vehicles)... in my state wouldn't allow me to because of a condition I had but am now over with. I just yesterday got certified. Though it wasn't there fault, I was being lazy with getting everything done. I was 18 when I was deemed fine and now I am 22! Lol, so yes that's lazy. I'll be getting my permit in October, and then my license a year and a half after that. My fiance and his mother will be teaching me how to drive. It's in good timing though, so I can be able to drive to and fro, it will be a lot easier and quicker means to start our lives together!

I got my drivers license many years ago, in fact it's so many years ago I can't remember whether it was the first time or the second time that I tried that I got it. I got my motorcycle license much later and it took me two tries I guess I wobbled too much the first try. I was taught lessons and I think that is the best way, that way somebody does not teach you bad habits, although I am sure I developed a lot of my own. A drivers license gives you freedom so good luck with that.

I have had a car or truck most of my life. I can drive almost anything, auto or standard, or motorcycle. I am presently driving my own car, although it is getting old. I would like to get a motorbike or scooter again (but cannot afford it), and I am making do with an electric assisted bicycle, that is an ebike or scooter style. It is cheap to run on batteries, there is no gas, no insurance, no license and no registration plates. It gets me where I want to go, to the bank and shopping, but is not too powerful at all though. It is legally treated almost the same as a bicycle.

I also heard about the Electric bikes. That is now starts to move in our country. Yes, it is not powerful but it can be useful to go to the nearby places. We cannot use it to long drives.. Have a great day.

Hi dbutheking! I've got my drivign license a year ago and it took me at least 5 months lessons and series of tests to succeed. I should say having a license here in Dubai is very costly and tedious, would you believe I took eleven tests before I pass and got the license? They are very strict here and schools do earn a lot from students who fails several times, one failure means another payment for 6 classes before taking the test again. For beginners like me I did take 40 classes as required plus 60 classes for 10 failures. And so when I got my license I had more than enough confidence to drive my own car...lol. I'm using the other car of my husband as he has two cars, I don't really like driving but here I have to drive myself going to the office. Good luck to you and may you pass on your first attempt!
• India
13 Sep 09
Hi seanbryan, 5 months is really the more time to learn how to drive. 11 tests? Really frustrating.. How did you feel when you failed in successive tests? Have a great day.

hi dbu. how are you doing? yes, i know to drive. but i did it all by myself. i started driving or learn to drive with a motorized tricycle. you know about that, a motorcycle with attached passenger cabin? it's very common here in our place. i've got my license when i was 22 years old. i just took the exam, written test and i passed in just one take. as i have said, i learnt it by myself but of course, my uncle taught me the basic in driving. I never went to a driving school. when i had my license, that's the only time i tried driving four-wheeled vehicles, and i did it for about a day. i have got my first motorcycle, 5 years ago. i got this through financing agency for 3 years. i hope you get your license soon. always take care in driving and also, try to learn about defensive driving. your instructor knows about it, so try to ask how it works. neil

Hi neil, Doing fine.. Teaching ourselves is not a easy doing. Glad that you teach yourself. I feel comfortable when the others teach me.. I know about the tricycle, here also there are here. Here we tell them as auto-rickshaw.. So, you got the first motorcycle 5 years ago with financing? I actually don't want to buy in finance. Because it always costs more than the usual single time payment. I feel it is better to save money regularly and after we got enough of it to buy we can buy. So, i will get my first vehicle very late... I will be a careful driver and being defencive. Have a great day...

Hi dbu, I started rather late. I got my first license when I was about 32, after taking driving lessons which lasted for 1 month, done 2 hours every weekend. But I didn't learn driving from that lesson. I learned from my husband who, seeing that I never really learned from the 4-weekends driving lesson I took, gave me a "refresher course". He was more strict than my driving instructor, which was good because I finally got the hang of it and gained confidence in driving. Well I don't really like driving but I don't have a choice coz I drive my kids to school and myself to the office everyday.

Hi doryvien, Yes, only by the regular practice we can drive better. We cannot learn easily only during the weekends because we lose the confidence during the week days and have to get the confidence again at the week ends. So, if we go classes regularly we may get the confidence.. Have a great day.

Good luck to you tomorrow. I got my driving license three years ago . It took me a year to attend the driving class and get the license. I was very busy and lazy at that time so i didn't have enought time with my training teachers . I was only available every Sunday so i learned it very slowly. i don't have cars now so i cann't say i can drive after i get the license since i never drive a car on traffic road.

I know how to drive. I got my driver's license when I was 19. My uncle taught me at first and i got so interested about it. When my mom sent me to driving school, i didn't like it neither my instructor. Then I started to drive on my own going school then home. My long trip was when I went to my home town that I had to drive 2 hours away from the city. It was so stressful and I had a headache after. From then on i was beginning to like being a passenger than being a driver. hahaha!
