Hey, I am a grandpa. Can you believe it? I am just 20 years old. And also i am not married and single. Even though i am 20 years old, i have some grandson. My niece is elder than me and got married and got the child last month. One of my uncle is younger than me by a month. That means he is a great grandpa.. Do you have any funny relationships like this? Do you have anyone younger than you in which such relationships are suppose to be older than you? If then, do you call them by the relationship? It is better to call by the name i guess. Even,if they call by relationships it is very funny. Do you feel hurt if they call you by the relationship? Share some funny relationships here.. Have a great day.

My children's uncles and aunts are younger than them and they have grandparents who are younger than me. I'm 43 and my aunts are younger than me by 10 years. So we call them young grandpa and grandma. It's funny when we have a family gathering. My sister used to go to the same school as our uncle because they are of the same age. And before they started school, she was warned by the then young uncle not to call him uncle in school. My family is strict about these relationships and we can't call our aunts and uncles by their first name. So my sister ended up avoiding talking to that uncle of ours in school which was pretty difficult when they're in the same class!

Yes, it is very difficult to call our class mate as uncle. This is too bad that your sister avoided to talk with your uncle just for not telling his name. Have a great day..

We don't have great uncle as a relationship. We always call as grandpa only. You are just make differences in them as grand uncle, grandpa, etc., You know we have differences in uncle and aunty. We call different names for mother side uncle and aunty and father side uncle and aunty.. We have some little cultural differences. Nothing other than that.. Also, i see that wikipedia article. Really funny. He becomes his own grandpa.. Have a great day,.

YEah, i'm an uncle to some relatives whom are much younger than me, as well as older than me, because the status of their parents are lower that that of my father.. hehe ^_^ As such, i do have a 30+ guy, calling me uncle, and also me, calling a young gal, my 'aunt'.. lol =D It's too confusing and thus i dun like to address them in that way.. hehe ^_^ So, whenever we see each other, it's just a simple 'hi'.. haha =D

You can better use their names for identification instead of relationships in such cases. If you are younger, it is nice to hear to call the older one as uncle. But to call the younger one as uncle or auntie is really funny.. Have a great day. ^_^..

In the USA we call that as a great uncle or aunt, but another mylotter here clarified that up for me and my fiance one time, so we know that it's different in different places. For myself, I can't think of anything... lol. my sister has a step son that is younger then me I believe... but he's not really related to me, i wouldn't know what to call him.

I had thought about that earlier, but thought "nah" but your right. I'd figured that out before awhile back... I don't think my brother in law talks to his son much anymore, not sure if they even see him.

Oops...I'm so sorry to stand against you people, but you can never have a grandson unless you have a child of your own. This is not my opinion but this is how relation is considered across the world. Your aunts son or grandson is your cousin under any circumstances. Depending on the type of relation, it can be nephew or something like that but never a grandson. Have a nice time

I had asked my Girlfriend regarding this since she is a Hindu & to my amazement, she said yes & agreed to your statement. Relation according to Hinduism, your aunt's Grandson can be your grandson & that means you can be a grandpa at the age of 20 without getting married. However In Christianity this is not the scenario. You can't have a grandson unless you have a kid. It's really good that this discussion gave me some extra knowledge about relations Happy Lotting

There isn't any funny relationship as you have in my big family. But I know my friend's family. She has two uncles who are lot younger than herself. Her aunties who bore those 'supposed-to-be-older-uncle' are also younger than her. So it's like the opposite way, isn't it ? But she call those 'supposed-to-be-older' family members by the polite way, uncle and aunty. Funny, isn't it ?

I can so relate. Indeed, some of us have funny relationships. I myself have nephews and nieces who are older than me as well as uncles and aunts who are younger. I guess that's because relationships overlap in some ways. But then again, we enjoy each other's company and I believe that's what matters most. I hope you enjoy yours too.

Congratulations to you Grandpa! This is indeed very cute that you should be a grandpa at twenty. If you want to know something funny, I'll tell you something: There are times when mother and daughter get pregnant at the same time. Now what would you say to that?

I've read some other comments and I understand its different where you live then here isn't it! If my brother was to have a baby, that would be my neice of nephew, if my neice had a baby that would be my great neice.. we have that problem in my family, as i'm the second youngest of all my first cousins. my mother has 8 brothers and sisters. some of my cousins had babies before i was born.. its confusing for MY children to call them great uncles and aunts, so we just call them auts and uncles. and i haven't even MET most of my cousins.. this summer i met one for the first time and we are both about the same age i think. . turns out our daughters are 2 days apart in age.

Yes, there is a great difference between your western countries and our place. We call the mothers mom as a seperate word and father's mom as a seperate word Similarly we call the mothers dad and dad's dad in the seperate names. So, you call them grand niece and grand nephews. that also looks good and make us understand clearly about that.. Now relationships not only confusion, but they are funny too... Have a great day.

Yes I do have. At 8 years old I became a grand mother but that is on my second cousin already. They are from far away relatives and I am sure some or most of the people even at their young age experience it too. Yes that was funny, it just happened because of blood relationship.

Your older in blood relation though your younger in age. That's usually happened, especially when your the youngest, you maybe the uncle but you were born much later that your nieces, they got married early and have childreb that becomes your grandchildren at your young age.

Correct me if I am wrong but don't you become a grandpa by having children and then they have children???? It sounds like you are a great uncle not a grandpa and your uncle is a great, great uncle. My youngest son has 3 uncles that are also his big brothers and their children are his cousins as well as nephews. We are his grandparents and we are his parents.

Just like ybonjoc said, we don't have any relationship as grand uncle or grand niece. We call as grand parents only. I agree with soonernation. We have cultural differences which is the reason for the difference in the relationships. Have a great day.

Dear dbutheking, I can't believe it, your topics is getting into 'A' list now. A really 'thoughts' motivated type, great job! Keep it up At the age of 3,my son became an uncle because my nephew married at a very early age of 17 and became a dad at 17 too. Hahaha. Due to age gap are so near, they are like friends, I don't think they call him uncle, they just talk to each other like friends! I am now a great grandma because one of my grandniece (cousin side) give birth....Hahaha...unbelievable! But's that shows how complicated it is! Cheers and do keep in touch!

Well, to be a grandpa your child has to have a child. You may be called a grandpa but that would not, technically speaking, be correct. Although my boyfriend is a great uncle as well. His oldest sister in as old as my mom, his mom is as old as my grandma. His niece is as old as him and his great nephew is as old as my little brother. But he is only a little older than myself. He just has a spread out family.

Hi chorgata, If you see the comments on the previous responses you may know it. We have different cultures and relationships as you. There is lots of difference between the western and eastern countries. This is one of them. We call only as grandpa and not as grand uncle.. Have a great day.
