Does anyone know any foods that will put weight on a cancer survivor? My father has survived throat cancer but he is very very thin. To further complicate, he can only eat like pureed type consistency foods because of the radiation. He is an old man and has no teeth anyways. Does anyone have advice on how he could put weight on? I really appreciate it.

I am sorry to hear that yecal. i can understand your eagerness. I think, apart from the routine diet that the dietician has prescribed he can eat anything healthy if he has other medical conditions OK. Some spices are very good for fighting cancer. There are protein drinks that I know many cancer patients drink to help them gain back much needed weight. Products such as Boost can help. Look for things like that or soft foods that provide carbs and protein. The first place I would go would be to the isle in the store that has things like Slim Fast. Speaking of Slim fast, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I drank that to help me get more vitamins. It actually did me a world of good and if it is drank along with a meal or instead of something else, it can also help him gain weight.
