Do you run away or face your difficulties?

We all go through times when we wish we could press a fast-forward button and project ourselves into the future and out of our present situation. Whether it's something minor or something as major as the loss of a loved one, it is human nature to want to move away from the pain and find comfort as soon as possible. Yet deep down, we all know that we need to work through these experiences rather than bury our heads in the sand. It is at such times as this that we acquire important information about ourselves and about life. The learning process may not be easy, but it is full of lessons that bring us wisdom we cannot find in any other way. Pressing the fast-forward button at such times only means trying to run away, but all we are really doing is pressing the pause button and prolonging our difficulties, even in some cases making them worse. The more direct, clear, and courageous we are in the face of whatever we are dealing with, the more quickly we will move through the situation. When we truly realize that the only way out of any situation in which we find ourselves is to go through it, we stop looking for ways to escape and start paying close attention to what is happening. It is then that we realize that we are exactly where we need to be. We remember that we are in this situation in order to learn something we need to know, and we can often lessen some of our pain by understanding that there is a purpose to our suffering. When you next feel the urge to press the fast-forward button, remember that you are not alone; we all instinctively avoid pain. But in doing so, we often prolong our pain and delay important learning. Facing life in the moment is, in the long run, the least painful way to go.

I am one of those who want to face it and get it over with. Running just prolongs the situation or delays it into the future. Life is always full of pain and challenges it's just part of the cycle.

If only running away from our difficulties made the difficulties run away from us…since that is never ever possible, do we have any other recourse than to face it? We can of course brush it under the carpet for as long as we are able to do it, but then when the bomb bursts from under there, there’s no escape. So if something is really bothering me or some unpleasant task has to be done, I would just do it. Of course I weigh each case on its merit and for me, most of them are avoidable, its only when the stakes are really high that I face the difficulties head on.

Hi sudiptacallingu, Thank you for commenting. We can't really run away from difficulties although many try, and this is because we take ourselves everywhere that we go. Eventually we have to face what life throws at us, so do it now and have it over with. It makes us stronger people as well. Blessings.

I truly believe that avoiding our problems only creates more and more problems. Facing our reality is the best way to comfront our problems and there is always a reason for everything. Moving forwand and searching for solutions instead of creating more problems is the best way to approach life.

Hello dear Pose. It is well said that facing life in the moment is, in the long run, the least way to go. It is so true that we might meet with difficulties in our lifelong. To run away from or to face our difficulties is something that is related to our attitude towards them. Only when we face the difficulties bravely and wisely can we meet with each challenge in our life. When we are used to solving what we face positively, we will find it easy and smooth when some new difficulties come to us. All in all, it is attitude that counts. Thank you for your instructive discussion. I appreciate it a lot. Have a good day, friend.

Hi Pose123, First of all let me tell you that i love reading your discussions very much 'coz you seem to touch that cord of life which makes one realize that we are born with a purpose & this must be completed too. You are absolutely right- to face the problem is the best way to overcome it.I strongly feel that if we do not go through pain, then we can not experience the beauty of true & real happiness at all. Thanks for the lovely discussion. Regards

If there is a problem, I will face it head on. If i run away from the difficulty, then I am only making the problem worse. if I nip it in the bud, and solve it right away, then the problem is not going to get any worse, and my ability to solve problems will become stronger.
