Competition. Love or hate?

What do you think about competition? In real life? In virtual life? Either its games, debates or real sports. How do you feel when you're in competition with somebody, does it make you feel good, makes you do better? Or you loathe the competitive feeling and it makes you feel shy?

Of the two, hate. Although I believe it's not so linear as that since it depends on the situation. Sometimes it's easier to engage in a competitive setting, for example, online games where I don't know anyone else. But on the other hand, I dislike starting to know people and then having any kind of competition with them, or just even have a "over-heated" argument with anyone because there comes a point where it just feels it's not competition any more but conflict. I try to stay away from those strong headed debates where people seem to be throwing punches rather than valid, cool-headed facts about certain things. I suppose that I plain and simply prefer light hearted competition where no one really "loses", or, everything is done in a cooperative way where everyone only has to win from the outcome from either the debate, or a task, or a game or whatever.

Guess you're the make love not war kind. so you never once competed in your life over anything? doesn't it make things dull or so?

I wouldn't say exactly that, but it's not entirely off neither. See, more than once I have been pretty much dragged into competitions. Conflicts I'd call them rather since the nature of things was surely more rough than I could ever enjoy, but either I come out victorious or not of these conflicts I still can't help but to at times feel rather nervous... uneasy. It's a sensation I don't enjoy and thus I try to avoid it; key for that: No competition. It's not that I don't think that competition at times isn't healthy, after all, it's actual competition that brought our world to be as it is now (for the better and for the worse), but I just don't really want to take part on it for as much as I can avoid.

For the most part I love competition and have always enjoyed being apart of them. Competing on the wii though has become my favorite!! It is fun to get a group together and play against each other to see who can win at different sports all without leaving my house!! I also like that I can connect to the internet and compete against other users that way. It is always an awesome feeling when you win!! To me it makes playing the games a lot better and keeps me wanting to play them again. Without competition they would get boring pretty fast.

Ah, I see I see! Although you say for the most part? Any downside you see in competition? :P Also, you say it feels good when you win. what about when you lose?
