What does your family do in the fall for entertainment? I find for my self feeling the need to get out and enjoy nature because the weather is nice a cool rather than hot. We have done things like visiting the apple orchard or driving to look at leaves changing colors. Just interested in finding new and different activities.

One thing I loved to do as a child, and I suppose I do, in the Autumn/Fall time is go walking in woodland areas. I loved skimming myself through the piles of luscious golden brown leaves, and filling my little backpack up with conkers. I'd collect leaves and take them home to stick onto paper and make pretty pictures. It's great fun, and can provide a wonderfully peaceful day out. If you take a camera with you, you could capture the day and store the memories forever, perhaps in a scrapbook decorated with your leaves and all the other wonderful things you found that day! It's enormous fun - one of the reasons why I look forward to this season.

wow great ideas to do with the kids. never thought about letting them take pictures and do a scrapbook type thing or leave pictures. This is going to be on the list of activities at our house this year!

Hi Hatley I always visit my local library and I think it is the most cheap activitiy, I only need to pay the traffic fee. In my city, quite a lot of activities and events are held by our government. And some of them are only held in fall, usually they are free to participate. Have a nice day.

well, i think that apple picking is a great idea or going for a fall hike is good too. we like to go and watch the birds and then go to the library and do research on them and other plants that we have seen.

I just learned that fall is very eventful around here. I live close to PA and MD so theres never a shortage of festivals, we have the fall orchard festival coming up this weekend and my kids are so excited for it. Its a real change from the summer and Im all about Fall, I love it--I already started getting my front yard decorated for Halloween, lol! We have another orchard 40 mins from here in PA that is really big and does the marshmallows around the fire, hay rides, they have huge decorations made out of haybails, pumpkin artist. Your right, the slight cool breeze and changing leaves is much invited after hot summer. I hope that FINALLY I get to get up to Vermont and see the beautiful scenery and visit pumpkin farm, miss New England.

Have a walk in the park, take a bike trip (not far from home, but outside the city), have a picnic next to a forest, watch an anthill and the ants' organization (I used to love that during my childhood and I could watch them for hours), go fishing, play hide and seek in the garden at night (when there's not much light), go hiking. There are always many things to do in nature and if you have kids then they should make it easier, because kids usually love spending time outside. They might have some good ideas too. :))
