When people say that 'you have balls, does it mean..'

When people tell me that I have balls, does that mean that others don't or only a few have them? I know its an expression used to mean 'guts'but then how do you a woman with guts? You couldn't possibly tell her that that she's got balls, can you?

When someone will say that to you then it means that you are stronger than they thought you are and it is infact a compliment to hear. This sentence is only said to men because men only have balls as they say.
