laptop manufacture

Greetings, I get asked numerous times and questions about which laptop is the best. I also see the same topic on a lot of message boards. I would like to point out that very few laptops are manufactured by HP, Dell, and others, and are instead made by Original Design Manufacturers. So why do people develop such brand loyalty? Just a few articles supporting my claim of Original Design Manufacturers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compal_Electronics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quanta_Computer http://www.mindconnection.com/library/computertips/whomakeslaptops.htm I welcome your opinions. That's really no news, except for the computer illiterates which is probably the problem here. Not just laptops, mind you, but also desktops. They compare Intel, AMD, HP, Compaq, Dell, Alienware, etc, all in the same boat thinking that these are all computer brands, each one producing its own components and that thus there will be a better or worse quality directly related to that brand name. So, you just need to slapstick a brand name to a machine, and people who want (pseudo-)quality will go for that one instead of one that has no brand attached. They usually believe that the more you pay the more and better you are getting on your hands. If people were more aware of how these machines are constituted... who really manufactures the components that are inside, then they'd understand that just because a computer reads on the side of the casing "HP" it doesn't mean that it's all "HP inside". Until that point however, you'll have many, many people to teach.
