Advice from a headhunter......Don't name a number. If the figure is too high .... they loose interest in you even before they know what you are capable of, or what you are able to bring to the table. If you name a figure too low.....they will wonder..."where's the catch". Stick to politically correct answers. Eg...I am sure you will offer me a reasonable increase; I am sure you will offer me the market rate; it may be too early to tell at the moment, it really depends on what the role entails...etc.... If push comes to shove...and they do insist....then (before any interviews), always check....what the market rate is anyway with internet these days it is really easy, then give something that is average. First....get them interested in you, let them make you an offer, then salary can be negotiated within reason. PS Also when looking for a job...know yourself, anyway, what is the lowest you would accept and what is the ideal amount you you would like for the job. Hope this helps.

...Hi 1anurag1, Thanks for your selection, you are very nice. I would research the salaries for the position, and come some here in the mid to highest amount. Especially if you are experienced. I remember I accepted a salary that I was not happy with, but I wanted the job, I called them back and told them it was better that I didn't take the position as I would not be happy with the salary. They called me back, asked me to write up a job description, they sent it to Washington, it was a government job, and they took me on two steps above what I had requested. That taught me to never to sell myself short. Value yourself or no one else will. Take care.

Hi, 1anurag1! Like many comments above, I'll also recommend you to ask people around. Furthermore, jobs do have levels, e.g. staff levels, supervisors, manager and many more, so I guess you can approximate of how much salary you expect base on that. Other alternative, at least you have to ask for higher salary from what you get now, say 1,5 times more than what you get now. Happy mylotting!

what i always do is to ask some people about the company and discreetly ask about their salary for the same position. i also ask friends and other people how much other companies are paying on the same position. if u are confident about ur qualifications and capabilities and how well u are suited to the position being applied for, u should put the "best tag" for urself. u will never "devalue" or "overvalue" urself, if u have done ur research about the company and their salary scheme beforehand.

hii it's depend on the situation and the job..where i go for the interview..and if i feel...my interviewer is gave good response to me..then i gave also a good response to me...and when he ask me..what i expected the salary..then i told him/her .. as according to your company rules...and if i have 2-3 year experience then it will changed about the situation..

This is why you always need to research any company you are interested in working for...not only so that you can become familiar with their salary scale but so that you can confidently talk about what talents and skills that you can bring to the company. I agree with the responder above who said that you should express an interest in a salary that is a bit higher than you believe they will pay...and add that the salary is negotiable.

Hi, there! I think it is advisable to ask around some people you know and do a little survey on how much is the salary scale in the market for the job you are applying for. Some bosses have the salary pre-fixed for you and it is up to you to demand a little bit higher if you think that you are qualified to receive more. However, you can also play it safe by asking back how much they will offer you and whether it is negotiable. All the best!

Well that depends on the position you are trying to get.Its all very relative. If you say to little he might take advantage of you.And if you say to much he might decline your offer. So the key is really to evaluate your position and with how much you would be satisfied, you should always say a little more than you expect. He might even get the impression that you are confidant about your potential for the position. That is basically all I can tell you with the information you gave.If you want more tell me what kind of job are you looking for? I hope i helped.:) Good luck
