From what I have seen, it is really popular and has overtaken friendster by being the top social site. However, what do you think of it? Is it good that people post all personal details on it? I have heard from a friend that people get sacked cos their bosses go on fb and see all the stuffs that they have done...

Haha, I enjoy using facebook also. Usually i look at photos and read notes. I don't really play the games as I will lose interest after a bit. I prefer to play computer games.^^ It is interesting to see what people comment on the status also.

Facebook i agree is definitely better than friendster. There are sercurity features in place. This allows you to hide your information from people who are not your friends. also, some of the games are quite fun to play only if I have more time haha.

Yes, is very popular in asia. In philipines and indonesia, even they have a branch office in indonesia. But now, most of them migrating to facebook. Thought a few try to stay, in the end, because more of their friend migrating to facebook, they have no choice but to change loyalty either. Friendster must do something, or bad thing will happen to them.

welcome to mylot and hope you enjoy. i am here at your discussion not about saying what i think about facebook, but i am mainly here to read what people will response. a few of my relatives are inviting me to join that site and i still am thinking if to join or not. i dont want to sit down in front of the pc ending up wasting time and electricity on nothing. but i guess i will open an account to see relatives who lives abroad, i guess it is same with friendster.

Well thought facebook and friendster is the same site, but in my eyes, facebook is far more superrior then friendster. Facebook have the ability to comment of everything you do. It has a superp privacty setting then can make people u forced to be friend with will not c your behavior because the privacy setting can manage whose will c what, and whose will not c what. The apps in the facebook is cool too, there r so many apps in facebook, and so many function. There are more games, and more fun apps. There are causes, group, chat, wall, link, video and other. Try facebook once, and you will be addicted to it, at least for the first few week you used it. After that, it still fun to use it, thought the charm is starting to wear off. You can still use it to communicate with other, more easyly then friendster.

Oh I think in New Zealand they have another social site which is very popular liek facebook. But I think Facebook is currently the most popular social site indeed. The excitement does wear off after a while. I still check Facebook at least once a day though =p It's very useful when people can post photos of the events we have been to.

yES I agree. Thought facebook fun, once you do all of it, the charm seem gone. But, i still use facebook at least once a day, coz you can always use facebook to c what your friend are doing. So it easy for me to contact and making plan with friend. Just c what they're doing now, and act accordingly

I used to be addicted to friendster. I enjoyed it so much but then I noticed that I haven't receive new messages and comments anymore. I found out that a lot of my friends already shifted to facebook. They are more active there. That's when I decided to make an account in facebook too. Well, for me, facebook is another form of blogging. Blogging because we always put there our own thoughts. I guess we should still be careful in posting some personal details since as we know a lot of people will be able to see it. It's fine to post anything as long as you know and you're responsible enough for the consequences of your posts.

Yes, I have one friend who treats his facebook account as a blog. He writes Notes daily and puts them up for people to read. We need to be careful with details. I read in the newspaper today that a man double crossed some mafia group, and he and his family came under police protection. So like they changed their names, changed the location in which they stayed in, and also the police warned them not to post anything on facebook which would show their faces. It was pretty dangerous cos from the photos, could figure out where they moved to.

i think facebook or any other networking site is useful only for gettin back in contact with old friends, colleagues or classmates with whom no contact was previously possible but the idea of puttin up my life on these sites or having status updates is real dumb and makes no sense whatsoever

Getting back in contact with other is great. But i dont think putting your stat is dumb and make no sense. Some time it is good if our friend know where we are and what we are doing. Off course, added stat every 5 minutes is stupid, but adding stat like "On the way to xxx place", "Trap in this stupid traffic jam in xxx strett", "Visiting xxx in the hospital" is good. You make people know, especially those who want to know where you are or what are you doing. Ok, that's it from me

I use it to keep up with my friends and family. Although my boss and co-workers are my friends, I know better than to post something that I won't say to their faces! I do have people asking to be friends because of business related reasons, but I don't now that I'm going to do that yet.

I think it's overrated by most people who use it. In a certain way it has come to occupy that vacant slot that we had of telling more about ourselves withouth sounding too eggocentric to others. Having a social network where everyone does it, just makes it easier for people to go all hypocrite in that way.

Hi there Practicality! I love Facebook mostly for its applications and how it works. I like it a lot more than Friendster since Friendster cannot control all those spam messages that keeps getting into my inbox over and over again. I always report them but then new messages from different accounts will come. I love Facebook's applications and I think Facebook should come with a warning. That it's highly addictive. ?

Yes, friendster is quite annoying in that many random people just add you. Its pretty bad, and only two months after i started i lost interest and quit. Facebook applications are indeed quite fun and I agree that it can become quite addictive. The first time I got a facebook account, I spent a lot of time on it. Hmm, whether it is addictive or not, really depends. I have friends who are hooked on the games in facebook, like the one where you open a restaurant, or plant stuffs, or the mafia one.

There are so many new and coming invitations from facebook, friendster, multiply, hi5 and so and so forth. You get excited and keep on registering on these items but eventually you get tired of opening them and it has eaten your schedule of opening ur file. I eventually limited myself to my yahooemail, facebook for my relatives and friends and multiply.com for my online businesses.

I think facebook is better than friendster. Facebook is a home of many entrepreneurs and learn a lot from those people than friendster it's a pure social networking and adding friends that's it. while facebook adding friends, monetizing and promoting and many advantages than friendster...

Haha, yeah, that's like twitter. I have a few contacts that have some sort of application that link facebook to their twitter account, so whenever they change the status of their twitter account, the fb one also changes.

I think Facebook is just like any other friend website. They all do the same. Give you an opportunity to meet friends all over the world. It's a nice website and all but, I get confused using it. It's cool and nice to have too. :D

I couldn't imagine getting fired or getting in trouble at work for something that I have done, and listed pictures of on the internet. That just doesn't seem fair. But, I guess people should understand their company policies before listing something or publishing pictures on a web site like that. Keep in mind, you can choose to only publish your pictures and stuff so that only friends can see them. I think that I would be sure and choose this option if I had a boss or worked for a company that was very choosy about published content. I, myself, have found Facebook to be a bit more time-consuming that I would prefer. I spend way too much time on there. I have only been a member for a month, and it seems like I am finally making contact with people I haven't talked to in years. This is one of the big benefits of FB. But, I would rather be on a site, like myLot, where I get paid for the time that I spend.

Well, me, I don't like to be involved in that big of a conglomeration! It's just too big! That's why I don't get involved with Myspace! I was in it at first when it was small, but now I don't go there as often, one I don't have time, two , there is too many things to do on there, that I am not interested in! Mainly, I just go there to keep in touch with some of my friends and my relatives!

Hi practicality. You are right about that. Facebook has become the number 1 social networking site and Friendster takes a backseat. I have accounts on the two social networking site but frequently visit Facebook. Most of my family members and friends are there and we get in touch through it. Happy mylotting.

I enjoy facebook because of its applications, but more than that there's nothing much to it. I don't put much info to my profile but I make sure that I also update myself with my friends' whereabouts. I enjoy the games there, especially Metro Games like Waka-waka and Plock. Haha. I also like the way that my friends could tag me in pictures, so I no longer upload pictures because they're already there.

Yes, facebook is slowly killing friendster. Almost all my friend now ( which a friendster user before ) use facebook, and they never ever coma back to friendster. And its all about startegy when using facebook. I Have 2 different facebook account, 1 account is the real me, and the 2nd is for my office friend, including the boss. So i can write anything suck about my boss in my real facebook account. Another option from facebook is to make your stat and other hide from your friend, but this is not good if half your friend can c your stat, and the other not. Sooner or latter they will know that you hide your stat from them, and that will make your relation in the office become not good. ok thats it for me thanks

FB is really amazing!i saw my old friends there and we unite again even they are in other country. But if you join that of course you also have to be ready to be view by other people coz that is all they all about.Just don't post on the things that you wouldn't want other persons to see..
