Has anyone seen the common bumble bee lately? Where are they?

Here's one for you! Summer will be over soon, well we're coming to the end of Semptember now and it's still surprisingly warm. I love nature and wildlife and all that stuff and I'm thinking to myself: bumble bee, where are you? I'm sure that they are slowly disappearing and this is a real shame. I heard something about this on the news that if some kind of positive action wasn't taken then they would soon disappear forever. They certainly are a beautiful part of wildlife and I sure do miss that buzzing sound when they are close. Have you seen any bumble bees lately? I don't really like honey but I sure do love the little critter that seems to weigh a ton and is so easily carried by those tiny wings! Andrew

Yes, they sure have become scare this days. I seldom see them anymore, just like butterflies too. When i was younger we used to get softdrink bottles, inhale a little smoke in them, then put its opening of a bumbble bees home and try to get the bee into the bottle, which was a bit cruel on them. But we were kids at that time and we were not really aware of the harm we were doing to these little creatures.

Hi sweetie, how are you? Well, I sure do miss seeing the bumble bee and I'm hoping that things will change so that we start seeing a lot more of them during the summer weather. They perform a very good service with their honey making and so forth, we need them! Oh well, we shall just have to wait and see what takes place over the coming years! Andrew

Hi Andrew, yes i also miss them. But for us here in the Philippines, i think we have to wait for a much better weather condition. We are now in our worst weather situation, after storm Ketsan hit us and now another one is threatening to his us. I hope that this one change its path and not hit the same places that are still submerged in flood waters until now. Please pray for us here in the Philippines. It is so nice to see you take care.

Well, the news was that bee keepers are having a real hard time during the current climate. It seems that there aren't enough bees and some of the wildlife programs asked viewers to try and keep a tally or count of how many bees that they see. Andrew

Hi Andrew, I think that you might have a point, although I hadn't thought of it. Now that you mention it, I haven't seen a single bumble bee this summer. I'm really not sure of the last time I saw one although I know there must still be some around. I have to check with others here to see if they've seen them. It would really be too bad if they disappeared completely. Blessings.

I think there was mention that even the bee keepers were finding it hard to maintain some kind of living! They are just really cute to look at and are very colourful too! It's going to be very warm this weekend so I'm thinking that I might keep my eyes peeled just incase I am lucky enough to spot a bee! Andrew

To be honest no i have not,but that might be because that i have not been looking for them. How ever i did notice this year there have been alot more spiders than usual in my house for some reason as well as alot of spiders outside.Next year i will try to pay more attention.

I definitely favour the bee over the spider! I'm seeing a lot of those as well and to tell you the truth I'm not that keen! I love the common bumble bee though and I sure do miss it! I think it's time that the zoos of the world took some positive action before this species becomes extinct forever. It's going to be another warm day today as well and you would think that they would be out in huge numbers! Andrew

I actually think I have only seen around 2 bumble bees the whole summer, there definitely seems to be a shortage of them this year. I have seen alot of wasps though unfortunatly (as I am scared of them). I am not actually scared of bees though weirdly enough. Well I better start stocking up on honey! haha, no seriously, I really hope something is done to help them, it would be weird having a sunny summer day without bumble bees.

I don't mind wasps or bees and I think that the secret is, if they are buzzing real close to you and just won't leave you alone then just let them land on you if that's what they want to do! They definitely won't sting you or anything unless they are provoked! I'm seeing a lot more wasps than bees and this is a real shame. I'm thinking that the zoos might have to get involved or something, something positive really needs to take place. Andrew
