I am sure there have been discussions like this posted before, but I need some advice. My friend and I buy shows on DVD to watch since neither of us can afford cable, and we have a cheap place to buy dvds here in Plano. We have watched all of The OC, What About Brian, we have also watched Seasons 1-4 of Greys Anatomy, Seasons 1- 6.1 of Sopranos, and seasons 1 and 2 of Heroes. I am thinking of getting the Profiler, an old cop show, and we have talked about both Dexter and Entourage. What are some really good shows that you guys would recommend getting, and what are they about?

"How I Met Your Mother" is really funny. The basic plot doesn't really do the show justice--the entire series is told in flashback, because it's a guy telling his kids the story of how he met their mother. The catch is, he feels like he needs to tell them the story of how he became the person he was when he met her, so it really is the story of Ted and his best friends, and we don't know who the mother is yet. But it's the characters and dialogue that drive the show. Maybe you could check it out on YouTube before you buy it to see if you like it, or rent the DVDs. I think it's hilarious and it has a lot of heart.

No problem! I hope you like it! Did you see Neil Patrick Harris host the Emmys? He's even funnier on the show. :)

If I were you I would pick Dexter its a really good show. Another one that I know my daughter and son-in-law like, who are the same age as you is "Friends". It was on for 10 years. Its is a very funny show. You can also go with any of the CSI shows, this show goes thru Forensics of a crime to solve it. Then there is Criminal Minds another really great show. They go into the mind of how or what a criminal may be thinking to solve the crimes. Hope this helps you.

A good show to watch is House - Mondays 9-10 pm. September 21 to May. It's a good show, It's on its 6th season. If you're looking for something that hasn't started its season this year yet then you should watch Lost. Rent of buy the prevoius seasons and watch then before January because this is the last season but Its a Amazing show.

maybe try going back a few years to some older shows like E.R, a new show popped up recently called the mentalist it's really cool because he's like a super awesome psychology person who canr ead someone just at a glance, he uses it to solve police cases and stuff. It puts a bit of comedy into it, for example he went to a casino and won a huge amount of money in one night because he could tell what the other players had just by the look on their faces.

I've seen some shows who is worth seeing: House M.D: It's about a doctor treating people with rare diseases. The actor (Hugh Laurie) is really good and his crew is also good actors. Reaper: It's about a boy. His parents sold his soul to the devil when he was born and When he turns 18 he starts collecting souls for the devil. And ofcourse: Family guy, Simpsons and futurama.
